New 90 Day Dining Reservation-Bad for DVC Members

I book by whatever the timeframe is. If it is now 90 days, then I will book that way. It could be that the crowds are down this year. I did find that it was hard to know when and where we wanted to eat 6 month ahead of time. :goodvibes

I am absolutely starving right now and I do not know what I will be eating in 90 seconds. How the heck does anyone know what to plan to eat 90 to 180 days out?

I am happy about the move back to a 90-day window for ADR's. While I was generally pleased with the 180-day window, it did get frustrating when Disney didn't release the park hours on time. Plus, this gives me more time to tweak my plans and more time for event details to be released (like Candlelight Processional narrators, etc.) before having to make ADR's. While there will always be people who call right on the day they can, the vast majority of WDW visitors do not. So I don't think that it will be significantly more difficult to get ADR's, even at the coveted Le Cellier.

I know exactly where --at WDW anyway----I want to be eating 180 days out. And I'll know at 90 days too!! Dining out is our number one priority on each and every trip. We always have our dining reservations made before we consider doing anything else.
Can't say I 'm pleased with the change, but I guess I'll have to live with it.

We know exactly where we want to go as well and were really comfortable planning 180 days out. We'll be able to make due with the 90, but I think it will mean increased competition for the ADR's now.

To combat the ADR problem with double bookings and no-shows, they need to implement a more agressive deposit system tied to you overall reservation if you are staying on property or to a credit card if you are not. Then they need to charge people that don't show or cancel within say 8 hrs. This way people can legitimately book multiple places for the same time if they are splititng up for dining and not be penalized.

I like the 90 days as long as the park hours calendar keeps coming out when it does. This way I can plan all of my park days and work my meals around it. Plus 90 days gives me less time to second guess everything I did!:lmao:

ITA. The way some ppl use (abuse) the ADR system is terrible. I have see many posts wherein the poster said something like, oh well, we blew it off, or we were an hour late, or I couldn't remember where we were supposed to eat, etc.

I think there should be a penalty for no-shows and less than 24 hr cancellations.

Also, some previous posters mentioned CRT and the 90 day window, but I believe that CRT, Victoria and Albert, and maybe Chef Mickey's are still bookable at 180 days out.

I TOTALY AGREE with this! I also think that Disney should set aside a small percentage of priority seating for on-site guests that call within the 24 hour mark for those of us that make unexpected trips and CAN'T plan in advance! I took my 2 DD's (9 & 16) to Disney in August right after their father passed away and we had an awful time trying to eat anywhere that was sit-down service! NOTHING available for walk-ins at all anywhere!

Another reason I don't use the dining plan. Then I have the option of saying "Forget this, I'll go to Bluezoo"

I'm very sorry to hear of your family's loss. :guilty:

Since I am already planning my trips in 2010, I forget that people do make last minute decisions, or can't plan that far in advance due to job restrictions. Most restaurants do hold some tables for walk-ins, so that seems reasonable to me. If they do not do that, they should at least have a maximum amount of time they hold a reservation. If you're not there within 10-15 minutes of your reservation time, a walk-in can take your reservation. That would help the walk-ins, and be an incentive for the person holding the reservation to show up on time!
