New 2009 Theme Decorations

The funny thing about the resort mugs is: Disney won't replace them until they sell out the old YOMD mugs, but no one will buy those because they already have it and they are waiting for the new ones. Anyone see a problem?

At this rate, the Celebration mugs should roll out in the summer :(

 Yep, I see your point! Well, I may get them by our Oct trip.:thumbsup2

Hmm... I'm a little disappointed.

I don't mind not having decorated parks, not really. I'm fine with them in their natural state, LOL.

I'm just feeling as if Disney is neglecting us January travelers. We're not important enough for them to get those decorations up on time?!? :rotfl:

Amen!

Well everyone I just got back from my birthday celebration. I was a little surprised to see how “un celebrate today, celebrate everyday” decorated the park was. The only Celebrate today decorations I saw were at the rose garden as well. The Pop Century Resort was still using Christmas cups and YOAMD mugs.

At Magic Kingdom I noticed they were using the new celebrate everyday napkins same with Hollywood Studios. I did not see any new cups being used at the parks. I had dinner on my birthday at the Polynesian hotel and the waiter was nice enough to bring me a new celebrate everyday cup. She said the cups were still not being used because they still have materials from YOAMD and Christmas.

I spotted some YOAMD signs still up in some park areas and resorts. As mentioned above by someone else I am disappointed that those celebrating in January missed out. The selection of merchandise is very limited as of right now. The only location I noticed that had celebrate today merchandise was MK. All merchandise had the same logo. Also the will call windows had a celebrate today window decal. It had balloons and the park’s main focus. Such as AK had the tree, Epcot had the ball and so on. No I was not able to get a picture of these… sorry. Also the will call windows had a celebrate today window decal. It had balloons and the park’s main focus. Below you will see the cupcakes they are giving to those celebrating a birthday. They are part of the celebrate today campaign. The cupcake was free and brought to my table without anyone asking the server too. The card had signatures of all the characters who participated in the character breakfast. I noticed at dinner the table next to me received the cupcake but no card, so I think the cards only come with those who choose character dinning. (Click to see larger image)

The only decoration on the Magic Kingdom Parade. I have to admit this was my first time watching the MK parade during the day and I was not impressed… I actually enjoy the Parade Bash at Hollywood Studios more. (Click to see larger image)

The napkins follow the same outline of the cup. (Click to see larger image)

I hope its decorated for you as well... I am looking into a graduation trip in June! The cake is actually 8inches. You can only customize 8 inches and above!! I hope you have a wonderful trip. :cool1:

Is the custom cake you posted ordered from the resturaunt?

Well my friends ordered the cake for me... They called this number to have the cake ordered 407-827-2253. I hope this helps.

Well shoot. Oh well. Thanks for information and good wishes! Hope you had a great trip!

I found the fact that they are using some "Celebrate" decorations, but still are using Christmas and YOAMD plates, napkins, etc to be incredibly lazy, and quite honestly, kind of cheap. I expect that kind of stuff at Six Flags, not Disney.

Disney is being eco-friendly and using up what napkins and stuff are left. Its only been 18 days since the promotion started and places have already started using the new napkins once they used up all the old ones. Why waste?

I really like the new bags with Mickey on them!

I feel the same way!! I understand the need to use what’s been printed but... they knew this celebration was coming and they should have ordered less towards the end of YOAMD. Just seeing the YOAMD decorations up in some areas and down in some was a little wired to me... and not something I expect Disney to do. I guess it’s a transition year.:confused3

I love the bags as well!! I let them deliver my packages to the hotel!! Bad idea the bag was all ripped up in some areas. I should have known better.

Thank you so much for posting those pics and your review! I was really pleased to see the decorations, even though they're a little slow in emerging. I'm excited to see all the stuff. How fun.

Thanks again!

You should have seen me when I got the cup!! :cool1:

why waste?

We are paying for the NEW CELEBRATION, not last years left overs. Disney needs to send the leftovers to the outlets or a clearance shelf and give this years paying customers exactly what they are paying for, the whole new celebration theme. "I"m going to Disney World" to see last years decorations is Very Disappointing!

Yeah I can see it from both sides, I guess. On the one hand, I'm glad they're trying to be eco-friendly by using up the excess, but I can also see the idea of donating or sending leftovers to outlets too. That would be "green" as well.

It is fun to see the new stuff, for sure.

AMEN!!! That's how I was feeling when I went to the park. I know my birthday ticket was free... but I did u/g to a 4 day pass. So I did pay to some extent. It would have been nice to see new decorations and not the same stuff from two years past.

I hope the new mugs look like that cup! I looove the look of that cup! FUN!

Thanks again for the pics!
