Never...

Yeah branv!... I'll never understand people who insist on justifying behavior that they know full well is negatively affecting others. Seriously, I couldn't have a good time if I knew I or my family's actions were spoiling anyone else's vacation, especially at WDW. Have a heart people...we all want to have fun. :)

Was at Pop Sept for free dinning and the noise by the bowling pin pool was horrible. There were people screaming and using the pool noodles to hit the water( which makes a surprisingly loud noise!)We did request the back of the building by the lake because we were traveling with my special needs nephew that has sensory issues but didn't get it.I don't go to bed till at least midnight but my 6 yr old daughter does and it was rediculous when they were cursing and yelling well past 1am.I looked outside and saw lots of little kids with there parents who did nothing to quiet thier kids. One night there were a bunch of drunk guys yelling about pizza right outside the door.We stayed at Pop the year before same time and stayed lakeside and had none of these problems and loved Pop.Last year made me not want to stay value again for this year-I have stayed deluxe, mod's and value but it was just too much this year and yes I know that there can be noisy people anywhere.

Two words...
Ear plugs.

I have never had a problem when we have stayed anywhere yet. But....I have a two year old so if I happen to get placed near a pool because there are no other rooms available and some child is screeming in the pool are you telling me I have to just deal with my 2yo not being able to sleep in my room?

Just wondering

I was at Pop Century in June of 2007 and watched as some folks were out by the Bowling Pin Pool making a LOT LOT LOT of noise..

Security came along asked everyone out of the pool. Nobody was 16 or older. Security's response -

"You can go back to your rooms and return to the pool with a parent or guardian or you can just go back to your room --- either way we expect you to exercise some common sense for the hour of night and be quiet. Thanks.. Have a great evening.. do any of you need a lift to your room?"

About ten minutes later one of the kids came back with two new friends (none of whom was an adult or guardian) ... this lasted about 2 minutes.. security expected this and returned promptly I guess.. and this time he took each of them back to their rooms and spoke to their parents.

I thought that was pretty good effort by security overall.

I know they can't be everywhere.. But.. At least they *do* try.

That is great and how it should be handled if it is way late

I never unerstood the draw of pool view rooms for this very reason...

The worst noise I ever heard from a hotel in WDW was once at AKL in a room and the room next to use, they had a baby that screamed, and I mean SCREAMED all night. We moved rooms after the first night. The poor thing must have been sick or something because I have never heard a baby scream that much for that long in my life. :confused3

Turning the fan on your air conditioner works great, as do white noise machines. I agree that people should try and be quiet after 11pm or so, but if I can do something on my part that ensures that I will not hear any noise, that is great too. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and all that.

When we were at the All Stars last June they had movies by the pool until 11:00 pm...this was the resorts choice and by the looks of the pool no one seemed to have a problem with it. Yes, it was loud and crowded and a whole lot of fun :thumbsup2 So what do you do in a situation like that?

We had a preferred view by the pool and I knew going in that it would be noisy I was right and truthfully it didn't bother me nor the kids.

Yes I believe that common courtesy is called for even on vacation but Disney gives people the opportunity to 'be a kid" with or without their kids and having fun cannot be scheduled between the hours of 9:00am - 9:00pm.

It's called respect..and even though you may not be in bed at 11pm, many people are...and you should respect that and use some common sense and common courtesy (and after reading this thread, it obviously isn't so "common" anymore).

No one has the right to ruin anyone else's vacation, regardless of what time it is.

I agree that no one has the right to ruin anyone else's vacation, but you guys are also saying that people need to bring in their children for the night before 10pm and not go into the pools after 11pm even though Disney resorts choose to have them open until 12am.

As the other poster said, this was obviously Disney's choice and if you can do some things to prevent the noise for your self do that. If the noise is unbearable don't request a pool side room or if you were assigned a poolside room, ask to be moved.

We all know that everyone runs a different time schedule on vacation and I think it's safe to say that unless you request to be by a quiet pool, you should expect some noise up until 12am when that pool closes and as far as I know, there aren't any quiet pools at the value resorts.

No, that isn't what I'm saying.

What I'm saying is if you need to be in the pool past 10pm, then keep yourself and your family quiet, so not to disturb others.

Why is that so hard for people to understand? :confused3

I guess to me it's so 'hard to understand' because I don't see why someone would pay for a poolside room, only to expect it to be quiet when it's obviously still pool hours  While I certainly wouldn't be whooping it up late, it's impossible to know when a child is going to let out a shriek or scream or loud giggle fit while playing at the pool.
Like I said before, why would someone pay extra for a location that is obviously going to be prone to being a loud one, then complain about it :confused3

Well, when we had our pool side room at All Star Sports, I didn't ask for a pool side room and I didn't have any choice. I made the reservation at 6pm that day and got whatever they had. I didn't get to the hotel until late, my son was already asleep, and I had no idea it was a pool side room until I got to it. It never even occurred to me that hundreds of unchaperoned 16 year old girls would screech, 'OMG, BROOKLYN!!!!!!' all night. I get having fun and some splashing, giggling, and occasional merriment would have been one thing...

The only reason I ended up by a pool, was because apparently there weren't any other rooms open at the time.

I wish I had that bad luck LOL Honestly we prefer to be as near to the pools as possible. We've yet to snag a poolside. This time we paid for preferred as to up the chances of getting one.

I also am surprised by the lack of courtesy that people show. The pool might be a different story because yes for some people 10pm is only 8 where they live and it's outside. Still I would expect people to try and keep it down a little after 10:00 or 11:00.
My issues is hotel hallways. Rooms at disney are used mostly for sleeping yet people let their kids scream down the halls at all hours. I think it is just plain rude at any hour. Some people may sleep in until noon or go to bed at 8:00 to catch an early flight. It's just common courtesy to whisper in the halls. And yes I have 2 children age 2 and 4 and they know how to whisper in the halls, refrain from jumping on beds, and how to use indoor voices in the rooms.

Oh I so agree! While some may think it's cute that their little 2 year old is beating down everyones door/windows at 6am, I don't LOL We actually had a 'neighbor' a couple of trips ago who let the kids play in the halls with Grampas ECV :scared1: they were ramming in to anything and everything, that was freaking scarey!

I didn't see where anyone said you had to "bring your children in for the night" or not go to the pools after 11. What I see is people asking for parents to show/teach some common courtesy.

As far as "asking to be moved", that is not always possible for any number of reasons. And "some noise" is way different than CONSTANT yelling, screaming and slamming doors.

I can't really imagine most people would be encouraging themselves or their kids of any age to be screaming at any hour in the pool...? :confused3

I have no problem with anyone letting their kids stay up screaming at the pool until 12am, 1 am, 2 am, 3 am...whatever! However, before doing so, please provide me with your name and hotel room # so that I can drop my screaming cranky children off to you to babysit the next day.:rotfl2: :rotfl: Because when you keep my kids up at night, I don't necessarily want to have to deal with them being cranky, when I know it isn't MY parenting skills that are lacking. Oh, and when you see me in a movie somewhere, and my kids are screaming, and behaving badly, and you are telling us to be quiet because you can't hear the movie, just remember that they are doing this BECAUSE YOU KEPT THEM AWAKE ALL NIGHT! It is not because I let them eat too much sugar (I don't), and it is not that I don't try to put them to bed at a reasonable hour (I do), and it is not that my kids are bad (they are not - they are quite good, well behaved and polite children). They are TIRED! I know, because I get that way myself when people are screaming at 1 am!

I don't think anyone minds people in the pool late - that doesn't seem to be the issue. The issue is NOISE LEVEL. While some do keep their kids up late at night, and I don't have a problem with that, I don't, because my kids need sleep. And while I do ask for a quiet room, that isn't always possible. And while it is your vacation, it is also my vacation. So a little mutual respect is always nice. Swim late, just don't scream and makes lots of noise. If you want to scream, go to the parks where I can't hear you!
