Never thought I'd ask for Prayers and Pixie Dust but...UPDATE ON PAGE 16

Going for a cat scan today 10am. I'm not one for Doctors. I'm never really sick Last time I saw a Dr. was in 2002 (pheumonia)!! Well I stop in the office yesterday to get an Rx for the "seasickness patch". They tell me it's been too long since I'd been there and the doc has to see me. OK fine. So he does the whole BP,eyes, ears, nose, throat, urine test, and then has me lay back while he feels around my belly. He says he feels something. Something? Wants me to go right away for a Cat scan! Now my cruise is 5 days away!!!!

I'm not sick. no pain. no nothing. So what could this "something" be????

Now I'm nervous.

Hey, hang in there. Medical stuff is nerve-wracking isn't it? Usually when they are feeling the abdomen they are feeling the spleen, liver, and other organs. Maybe there was just some enlargement (some viruses can cause spleen enlargement). Anyway, your doing the right thing to get it checked ASAP but I know how awful it feels.

Sending good wishes your way. It will be over soon and you'll be on your cruise before you know it. Try not to worry so much before hand, it's probably nothing and not worth worrying over. I've had things like this happen to me recently as well and it was just to check things out. Good luck!

I have never had a CAT scan done, so I don't know what the turnaround on receiving the results is. Sorry.

As far as how long it takes to get the results back, it all depends on what they see and how fast they want the doctor to know about it! I'd guess at least a couple days!

I think the turnaround for results depends on several factors. I just had one yesterday morning and they said my doc would have the results in 24-48 hours.

Here's some P&PD for you. A radiologist will check it before you leave to make sure the views were good. They then look at it more in depth later, and your own doctor should get the results within a day or two (ask them how long it takes while you're there). "No news" is good news here, especially if you're not having any symptoms of anything wrong. Good luck.

Well, you must be relieved. Good doctor that he could feel that!

So, are they going to watch it or what? I know a lot of these cysts come and go on their own.

I had a brain MRI on Monday and was glad to see that I have a brain in there and nothing that doesn't belong.

It's scary waiting and wondering, isn't it?

Glad you got the results and sure wish you the best. However, honestly I am shocked you can function w/o pain with a 16cm ovarian cyst. My second daughter has been thru many ovarian cysts, so I sympathize as I know they are no fun. Hope dr clears the way for you to continue on your cruise and you have a wonderful time. We are looking forward to our RC cruise this week ourselves.
