Never staying at the Swan or Dolphin!

I took advantage of a deal offered at the Dolphin Resort. Checked in and noticed how dated the inside looked and in need of a good paint job. When we walked into our room I noticed how all the furniture was older and banged up. The bathroom still had hair in the tub and the air was not working properly. We were given another room. A big yellow stain on the white blanket and a chocolate hand print on the wall. (I hope chocolate!) Bathroom was still in need of cleaning. The maid commented how they needed to hire better help. After three hours of changing rooms and a very angry guest they switched us to the Yacht Club at the same price as the Dolphin. The Swan was no better! They were booked due to a convention. While I am thrilled to be at the Yacht Club, what a big disappointment with the Swan and Dolphin! I realize Disney does not own them but they still represent Disney. This was going to be our first time staying at this hotel because the price was so good but we will not be going back!

Not suggesting that the OP did not have a bad experience, but we stayed at the Dolphin last September and enjoyed it so much we are going again this September. I can see why some might find the room decor a little dated but our room (11089) was spotless, including the bathroom, and no musty smell as some have reported. We liked the public areas and they were not shabby and they all were also very clean. We loved the amenities and the location to us was outstanding - close to the Boardwalk, and the boat to Hollywood Studios was great - no extra stops on the way and the first to be dropped off on the way back. So easy to get to Epcot as well.

I had a similar experience at WL concierge - ketchup stains on the sheer drapes, dirty carpet, and dirt and handprints all over the walls, And then there was a leak that had soaked the carpet and no-one had noticed before we checked in. They fixed the leak and shampooed the carpet but were not able to change our room. WL is one of my favorites, and we had prior good experiences, but haven't been back - it IS hard to get past a disappointing experience.

How were you switched to the Yacht Club at the same price as the Dolphin? They are in no way connected with Disney in that respect in order to make that happen - to my knowledge anyway??

Anyway, sorry you had a bad experience. The Dolphin was great when I was there in December, and all the times before it.

I recently stayed at the Swan about 3 weeks ago and I have to say this was my 2nd time staying there. First time was back in 2006 and I have to say I am not overly impressed. I agree i think the furniture and rooms need to be updated. Also the bathrooms as well.

I wont be staying there any time soon until some changes are made

The problem(if there is one) with the Swalphin is that they are basically convention hotels and as such get a great deal of use as the average stay per customer is shorter than the other WDW hotels including the various Epcot resorts.

They are also very popular due to their lower room rates than their neighboring Epcot resorts which means more wear and tear on the facility and it's harder to rehab the floors because of the high occupancy rates.

While the Swalphin is next to the Yacht, Beach and Boardwalk resorts it is not a fair comparision to try to match them up room for room. There is a reason why the Swalphin is cheaper than the other Epcot resorts.

We stayed at Swan 2 years ago and it was a great stay. It sounds to me like to rooms are in dire need of refurbishment. I hope they refurbish the rooms soon. It would be a shame for this resort to go down the hill. They did the honorable thing moving you to the YBC!
