never stayed @ universal before any suggestions??

Do it, do it, do it. Eventhough I have never stayed on property before my plan is to do so on our next trip which is in June. The first part of our trip we will be at disney's Pop resort and the second part at Royal Pacific Resort. Every post I have read on these boards have been nothing but positive for staying on site. My family and I will be staying at the RPR for no other reason than it's the least expensive of the three and since its our first time we didn't want to spend more than we are spending on this resort. So go ahead take a chance stay at US and see for yourself what everyone is talking about. I plan too.:cool1: Do I sound like a commercial?:rotfl:

Welcome to the US boards! What kind of info are you looking for, where to stay, food, parks. There is a ton of information on these boards but you have to be a little more specific on what you are looking for, it also helps if you say what kind of group you wil be with, adults only, family with children, etc. We're all here to help!

1. Sign up for loewsfirst membership at loewshotels.com. Its free to join and has several nice benefits from possible room upgrades to complimentary welcome gifts.

2. Start checking rates now at either loewshotels.com or universalstudios.com. As Angela said, RPR is usually cheaper than HRH, which in turn is usually cheaper than PBH. There are three possible discounts available been booking your hotel:

a. Supersaver. This discount requires a minimum of three nights stay. Longer stays results in better discounts. If available, it should display without any special code when checking rates. My trip in May is booked with this discount.

b. AAA discount. Requires membership to AAA. Inserting 'AAA' in the promotional field on the hotel booking webpage will display the AAA discount rate if available. You do not need to be an AAA member when booking on the website, but you will need prove of membership when checking into the hotel.

c. APH discount. Requires either a preferred annual pass or premiere annual pass. Works the same way as the AAA discount, but insert 'APH' instead of 'AAA into the promotional field. If available, the rate will display. As with AAA, you don't need an annual pass to book the room but you will need it when checking in.

We stayed at HRH twice and the at RPR, because there was a huge price difference between that and HRH. We love RPR almost as much and since we could still go over and swim at HRH and get ice cream for Emack and Bolio's it was all good.

I would definitely stay there again.

With 4 nights at RPR you will have time to go swimming at the other resorts if you so choose. Portifino's pools and spas are particularly nice.

wow thanks everyone for all of the good advice!! We want to stay on property and will stay for 4 nights which should give us a better price:thumbsup2 We will/want to stay aug 26 to aug 30th. So,
tomorrow I will sign up for the loewsfirst membership and if that doesn't work I do belong to aaa as well see which one gives out a better bargain.

I'm staying 8/25 to 8/27 and I got a $219 rate for HRH with AAA. I call Loews directly to make sure I get my perks and sometimes the operators can tell you whether there are better rates available, I've been very lucky with the operators and have been super-attentive with me. Hope you have a wonderful time, either hotel is great. I've stayed at both and like them both. Last time I stayed at RPH, this time I'm staying at HRH, I like to switch when the budget allows. I find that PBH is the farthest of the 3 hotels, but I have heard nothing but good things about it also. I'm sure you'll enjoy any one of them. Since you are staying for 4 days you may be able to get a supersaver rate even cheaper than what I got since I'm only staying 2 nights. HTH :thumbsup2

I just booked Aug 17-22 at RPR for $161 per night plus tax. That is the Super Saver rate for 5 nights. I believe 4 nights will get you $171 per night!

Once you stay on site you will understand why it's the only way to go. We are going in May (our 6th trip). We've stayed at the Royal Pacific 4 times and once at Portofino. I booked last week directly with Royal Pacific and got a better rate that AAA or anywhere else. Get the Loews First card...you don't get any discount on the room rate but you do get some perks. Faster check-in, upgrades when available and welcome goodies (wine, cheese, cokies, etc.)
Front of the line privilege and a short walk or boatride to the parks makes the trip MUCH more pleasant.

:cool2: I cannot agree more, STAY ONSITE.We have been to US @ IOA 20times,when we stayed offsite our 1st few times we didn't enjoy it as much (alot more driving, walking).Alittle web surfing and checking back with the boards and you can find some great dealsfor onsite resorts.:cool2:

Loews First does not give you a special rate it provides benefits, beginning with your first stay, such as room upgrades and welcome gift. You can view the details of the program here. LF benefits are available only with qualifying rates but AAA does qualify while ap does not.

my only suggestion is that i would be prepared...to have the time of my life.
