My husband and I never watched the movie Avatar. Should we bother with the craziness that is Pandora? We were originally supposed to go to Disney before it was completed but we rescheduled to November. So our original plan was a half day at AK but now.,,.
We have 4 park days total and we are more interested in princesses. ;)

Well, I hear that Flight of Passage is an excellent ride, with or without prior knowledge of the movie. There is a height requirement of 44 inches for it though, so if your daughter doesn't meet that, I wouldn't bother with it at all. There is the Na'vi River Journey that does not have a height requirement, but I hear it isn't nearly as spectacular as FoP.

Unless you really want to see it, and with only four days, I'd say avoid it. If you think you will do return trips, then you can always catch it next time, after some of the hype dies down.

Yes, without a doubt. I've never seen Avatar and have no interest...I'm not a movie person. But I still really enjoyed both rides.

If you've never seen the movie and don't plan on seeing it before your trip, I wouldn't waste precious time there. I haven't seen the movies in years and yeah it looks neat but it did not blow my mind. And FoP gave me motion sickness. DD14 and I are going to watch the movie again before our next trip so maybe then it will impress me more.

I just saw Avatar for the first time back in March or April to know what it was about before our trip this past May. I LOVED the movie, and I fell in love with EVERYTHING in Pandora. I can't believe I didn't watch the movie sooner. FOP is my favorite ride at Disney now, and Satuli Canteen is my favorite QS.

I loved FOP! It's now one of my favorite rides. Truly I wasn't a big fan of the movie, and the little hasn't seen it but we all loved Pandora. I think it's definitely worth seeing.

No need to watch/like the movie to enjoy the land. Personally Pandora is now one of my most favorite areas within a theme park. Flight of Passage is also one my favorite rides now.

FOP stinks. Avatar stinks. If I were you, I'd skip it and tell everyone you meet at the park to skip it as well :D

They created this land with a backstory that it's been hundreds of years since the events of the movie, so there's nothing about the movie in the land. It's all about Pandora as a living, breathing environment.

I hated the movie too, but I am beyond excited to visit Pandora.

I have never been able to stay awake during the movie. It is literally like taking Ambien to me. That said, our family can't wait to see Pandora. We are excited to see everything that will be new to us next year

Pandora is beautiful, especially after dark. It is not necessary to see the movie to appreciate it, although a few elements will make more sense if you have seen the movie. But it is great even without that.

I thought FoP was absolutely breathtaking, and very smooth, though exhilarating. I had no difficulty with motion sickness on it, nor did my daughter, who is somewhat prone to motion sickness.

Someone else on the forum probably knows the height requirement for FoP, and could say whether your daughter will meet it or not. Whether I would take a 5 year old on it depends a lot on the particular 5 year old.

I would bet that in November, the crowds in Pandora will not be too crazy. They were lower the second day the land was open than the first. Probably quite crowded again in December.

I think Pandora is lovely, especially at night. There is no need to have seen the movie to appreciate it. You would notice extra allusions to the movie if you have seen it, though.

In my view, the FoP ride is really amazing! It is very smooth, so I had no problem with motion sickness at all. At the same time, it is thrilling.

I am not sure about the height requirement for the ride. If I had a 5 year old who met the height requirement, then whether I would take her on FoP would depend on the specific 5 year old and previous ride experience. Some could find it too intense.

Since you are going in November, I don't think the crowds will be too awful then. (I was there the day Pandora opened.)
