My family is going to Disney June 26th-July3rd. There are 6 of us.(4 adults and 2 teenagers) We are thinking about renting a van or large SUV. We would be traveling round trip from eastern NC. The problem I am finding is that there is a certain amount of miles you are allotted before you are charged an extrra .25 for every mile over the allotted amount. Does anyone have any other alternatives? Know any rental companies that dosen't have a certain amount of miles you have to stay under before getting charged? We have also checked into flying but it is more than we are willing to pay.

I've never seen enterprise charge a mileage fee. In fact, I was in Raleigh about two weeks ago and rented from them and pretty sure it was unlimited. You may need to get to a metro area to find one that doesn't charge by the mile though. I've seen some small-town franchises (hertz/avis) that charge different than their typical airport/big city locations. In that case, just drive personal vehicles to airport and rent the van there. A minivan will be more comfortable and economical than a full-size SUV. We traded our Suburban for a Honda Odyssey a few years ago to get more space.

Enterprise said the miles were unlimited in NC and SC but after that you were allotted 200 miles free per day before being charged .25 per mile. I don't know. We are wanting to rent a van. We all own small cars and can't fit everyone. We have been offered to borrow my dad's trailblazer for the trip but I feel it would be to uncomfortable. So overwhelming!!!

I'm just typing off the cuff, but if you're free in NC and SC, and get 200 miles per day....Wouldn't that equate to 1400 free miles? If so, do you anticipate driving more than 1400 miles south of South Carolina? It sounds to me like you may have enough free miles, unless I'm not understanding. Good luck!

We rented a car for our son and his GF to drive from Pa to Myrtle Beach last year. Unlimited mileage except for 200 miles per day in, I believe, MD. The trip through that state was less than the allowance so, no problem.

we are using Alamo for our trip (1,400 miles RT) and we got unlimited mileage. Don't know if it varies state by state. First time we are renting a car, so not well versed in car rental policy, but I have checked with Alamo several times to make sure there is no mileage restrictions.

wanted to add that we are renting a car, not a van or SUV. So I don't know if each vehicle class could have a different type of restriction.
