I am new to DVC and am curious about the process for renting points. I know there are sites that specialize in renting your points and points can also be rented here on this site. Does anyone have experience renting through both methods? Through my initial research it doesn't appear to be too difficult to rent directly on this site, but I would love to get feedback from those who have done it. I know the other sites claim to "guarantee" the point get rented because they have a surplus of people looking to rent points from DVC Members. Is there similar demand via renting directly from this site? The thought of paying a large percentage of the rental income to a 3rd party broker is annoying.

Thank you for any feedback you can provide!

I have rented twice, Once on my own, and through David’s,

When I did it on my own, it was with someone who I had done a transfer with so we were familiar with each other. Since that went over well, I was willing to do the rental. I didn’t end up doing a contract, but had terms in an emai...no cancellations, payment due when reservation was made...wasn’t borrowing points or those would have to have been paid upfront,

However, I decided this time to go through David’s, and it was easy and well worth the few dollars a point I lost. I didn’t want to deal with a stranger, and all of what comes with doing it on your own, Yes, it’s pretty easy, but for me, I liked the ease of it and having the broker involved who dealt with it all!

"The thought of paying a large percentage of the rental income to a 3rd party broker is annoying." I rent through a broker (David's) and am happy to pay for the safety and convenience. I rented points several times last year and as recently as last week...IMO no worries and well worth the cost.

Thanks for the feedback! Good to know.

Thank you for your reply! I figured going through a broker would be much easier. With a 200 point contract, I am trying to determine if it would be worth a $700 broker fee (if I rented all 200 points). I definitely like the safety aspect and getting one degree of separation between the buyer, though. Thanks again for your feedback!
