Never rented DVC... ques about timing...

Interesting to hear!! I had looked at some room views from Touring Plans, and even tho i did see what you mean about the bungalows & trees, i still did see some castle & theme park views, the higher floors seem ti be better. I just really didnt want a parking lot or side of a building view

The room views on Touring Plans are not always accurate. They did not go into every single room on Disney property and take a photo from the window of every room. Some of them are assumptions of what the view will be, based on what the view is from a completely different room.

Before making a change, I think you should be asking, "What is the view like from the Lake View rooms at [whatever the acronym is for the Poly villas]?" PP above gave you their opinion; perhaps get some other opinions before you consider making a move. (And assuming PP is correct, then perhaps you don't want to make a move.)

Going by what Im reading here, I dont think guaranteeing that view is worth the risk in this environment. Im going to keep my eyes open for last minute deals, but as mentioned above, I would rather pay a little extra for the security of being able to cancel directly through Disney. DVC rentals definitely do seem to save you $$, but Im averse to the risk involved, mostly bc of Covid & my uncertainty of what construction will be like. I hope I get lucky & some lake view room do become available! We are very close to the 60 day mark. Has anyone else seen more inventory become available through Disney in the last days leading up to their trip?

Well, your thread is on the DVC forum now (I think it was moved from the regular Resorts forum). So, most of us are owners who witness availability change over the course of the 11-month booking window. It's unusual for us to book a DVC villa with cash thru Disney Resorts CRO, especially this year when many of us have more points than we can use.

DVC should turn rooms over to CRO to for cash booking at 60 days. There's money to be made for both Disney Resorts and DVC when unreserved rooms get booked for cash by guests.

If the lake view studio never comes to fruition thru CRO, you can always ask about upgrading when you check in (expect to pay the difference in.price). If something is open for all of your nights, the front desk should be able to do it for you.

This was our view from the 1st floor room. The castle was between the 4th and 5th bungalow from the right.

Well if your heart is set on that lake view then wait a few days. At 60 days prior to check in, DVC turns unreserved rooms over to CRO for cash reservations. Any Poly LV studios that have not been reserved by DVC members can be released to cash inventory. You may still be able to grab that LV studio thru Disney directly and then you will only be subject to Disney's very generous cancellation policy as opposed to the more strict no-cancellation policy that you would be subject to be renting last-munute points.
Tomorrow is our 60 day/ADR day!! So in theory, if there was a Lake view room to be had, after tomorrow I may be able to find one through the official Disney website as a cash reservation?

Possibly. No one knows for sure exactly how DVC does it all because rooms remain for DVC bookings well within the 60 day window and sometimes we see non and they are there for cash.

But, keep an eye out because if they want to offer them, the chances are greater this way.
