Never paid attention -- will there be great desktop deals on Black Friday?

My PC died over the weekend and I need to purchase a new one. Nothing fancy at all -- we just use it for Excel, Word, internet and some slideshow movie making. We are looking to spend between $400-$600.

Am I going to find any good deals if I can hold off until Black Friday?

I am a hard core BF shopper, my son and I are normally #1 in line at BB every year - I LOVE it ..... that being said you are not going to know until closer to BF.
There are forums that post the ad's as they come out. Just keep your eyes on them ;)

Try Newegg.com

They have great deals and if you can't find exactly what you need, you can save a lot by building it yourself.

Black Friday sales actually happen on Cyber Monday with NewEgg and a lot of other online stores.

I don't know about BF but I just saw the most awesome HP desktop at Sams Club on clearance today. My DH gave me a look like "no, you don't need a new one". Our son built mine custom so I can add but...
It had 7 gb ram, 750 gb harddrive, and a 23" monitor. It was $799! The monitor alone was to die for! And 7 gig of ram? Oh well, get over it.

There are the occasional laptop deal, but desktop deals are usually reserved for odd off brand machines that aren't worth their "discounted" prices.

Your best bet is to watch the deals for percentage off / dollar off coupons that are stackable with existing sale prices. Sites such as gotapex.com or slickdeals will point out the deals. Stackable coupons are almost always limited to the first so many thousand uses, so you need to act fast. On the lower end the deals aren't as dramatic as they can be with high end systems, but at that price range you should see a really great deal at least once every 2 weeks.

Revising an earlier post. DS said I want 32 gig of ram. I love my engineers:eek:

many PCs cannot handle 32GB, ignoring the fact that much, if your PC could handle it, of people do not need that much.

Now are you sure they didn't mean 3.2? That is the limit for 32bit machines.

64 bit doesn't have the limitations.
