Never have bought an AP before. ???

I am trying to figure out if buying two APs or PAPs for my DH and I will save us $$. DH and I are going Nov.24-Dec 1st this year, just the 2 of us. Will need 6 day passes for that trip, with the Park Hopper option. We are planning a trip with our daughter, her DH, and 3 grandkids next Sept or Oct. Will need 8 day passes and would want the Park Hopper and Water Parks option for that time. Would I want the Annual Pass, or the Premier Annual Pass, assuming it saves us $$? I am reading different prices from different sites, so I am having a hard time figuring this out. And I know there is a recent price increase. Can these be ordered by phone? Are there any other benefits to having the APs, or PAPs? We usually get the basic Dining Plan for our trips if that matters. Please help!!! Trying to pay for everything before we get there!

The difference between an AP and PAP for DVC members is $143 (incl tax). You can get a $106 water park AP. Water Park 1 day admission is $55.38, minus a $4 DVC discount. PAP would also give you Disney Quest, WWoS and I think some mini-golf.

If you buy the AP's you can get the Tables in Wonderland dining discount card for $75 versus $100 for a DVC member to purchase. With a DVC villa you can have a quick breakfast in there at the very least, and probably save enough on meals with the TIW 20% discount instead of purchasing the Dining Plan. Food for thought, lol.

Take the 6 day and the 8 day tickets and add them. If you don't order the 8 day tickets early, assume there will be another price rise before then. Is the total of those tickets more or less than an AP?

I assume you are a DVC member, so definitely compare the total of the tickets to the price of the DVC APs.

If you're comparison-shopping on the WDW site, be sure to put the tickets/APs into your cart, then click to see the cart. THAT gives you the taxes-included price.


Looks like Debbie has a good idea of just getting the waterpark AP, rather than the Premium AP, if you're going that route.


With APs, we look at the cost of admission as being the reason to get the AP; any other extras are just bonuses.

WOW! When did the water parks go up that much? We haven't gone to one for a couple of years but seems like it USED TO BE like $38 or something (then less the $4 DVC discount). $55 is a real shocker! I didn't realize there was such a thing as a waterpark AP. Does it work just like the reg. AP's (good for 1 year after the first use)? Do you get them AT the waterparks or at any Guest Services?

Thank you all for help and advice. I think we'll be buying APs, as we will only be going to the Water Park once in that second trip. The DVC discount is hard to beat, and thanks to all the info learned here on the Dis, I am saving lots of $$!
