NEVER got towel animals - anyone else???

I think we've gotten them once and then DH promptly took it apart and used the towel! I almost cracked up thinking what a sacrilege he'd committed. They were cute but I've wondered before if I'm the only person on the Dis who doesn't give a flip about towel animals. Maybe I'll feel differently after we start taking kids to WDW.

Our last trip ( Feb) we got bombarded with towel animals, the other 5 or 6 trips before, no animals, our beanies and plush had been moved around are room to be reading books and magazines that DH and I left out. This time we were there the week that Valentines was happening and every day we got a new towel guy, we had a whale, bunny, swans that made a heart in the middle and a fish. Also they made little holders for our tootbrushes. We were leaving one day and Mousekeeping was on our floor and in her cart were about 30 pre-maid towel guys, so I guess if they have them made they just plop them in your room. Perhaps its more a off season thing?

We have gotten them at CBR. Last year at BCV there was a "seminar" where mousekeeping showed you how to do them. They were great. We stopped at CBR last Tuesday for DD's hair wrap and there appeared to be a similar "seminar" there.

They did have them at POP on our 1st night (the kids had them in the window). We did not get any as we only stayed one night.

Nothing at AKL last week but our housekeeper played a number of games with DD's bears. Ony day they were watching the animals, on day they were in a towel "pool" and one day they played "hide and seek". DD had a blast with what the housekeeper was going to come up next.

I've gotten them once or twice. One was swan and then one time a little bunny that held our toothbrushes. However my trip is not really effected if I get a towel animal or not. Not sure what the big deal is. The cruise was fun because every night was something different so we always put our guesses as to what it was going to be.

We received towel pets this time, and also found out where they came from.
We were staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort and we were walking through the Old Port Royale Centertown to pick up juice and stuff for the following morning. It was probably 3 p.m. or so, and the place wasn't busy at all. There were two CM's at a desk area near the restaurant, and they were making the towel animals. They must have had a mound of over 100...with swans, dogs, birds and all kinds of others. The next evening, when we got back to our room after a day in the parks, we found a towel dog and bird sitting on the bed (DD & DS were very happy to get them). I did notice that the days that we were out & about very early in the morning we had them, and the days we stayed in our room later, we didn't. Don't know if maybe they run out of them for rooms they are cleaning later in the morning, and that is the determining factor?

No, never at WDW and I don't see why people get upset over it!!!

You're at the Happiest Place on Earth - why do you care if you get a towel elephant??? Go to a 5-Star Mayan Riviera Resort and tip your room-keeper $5 everyday if you want one.

I think for about $5 you can buy a book on "how to" so you don't have to go out of the country!

Our May trip to AKL was the first time we ever got towel animals -- and we've made MANY trips to WDW.

HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA :rotfl2: too true!!!

You can make them for your kids while they're swimming.

I always considered towel animals to be a cruise perk. Not sure when people started expecting them at Disney. I think they are expected on a cruise, but just a nice touch anywhere else. Cute if you get one, fine if you don't.

We've been to Wdw four times, but only received towel animals in 2001. We were very surprised. Haven't received any every since. :confused3 We're good tippers, so I don't think that's the cause. I guess we just aren't lucky with the creative housekeepers.
