I would suggest telling the first TSA agent that checks your boarding pass that you are new to flying and they may give you some suggestions.

I would not suggest this. You will almost certainly be holding up a huge line and what really do you think the TSA agent is going to help you with? It's better to read the pertinent info on the TSA website and your airline's website and you'll be fine.

Just an FYI -- CMH (Columbus, Ohio) airport only has curbside check-in for SOUTHWEST AIRLINES...for obvious reasons (free bags).
