Never, ever - OKW room issues

Missing the point …. These are advertised as ‘deluxe’ accomodations … animals rotting inside the walls doesn’t fit that description … nor does non working outlets, broken appliances or roaming house pets … Disney needs to pick their game up period
Animals are prevalent in the area, field mice, snakes, rabbits and so forth. It would not be unheard of for one to get in, get lost or caught, and die there. No matter how "deluxe" a property is, things will happen. And again, the guest was offered a solution. The unit would have to go out of service to remove the tub and the animal carcass. The guest knew it could NOT be repaired while they occupied the unit. How would a housekeeper know if the dryer wasn;t working, do you want the staff to take additional time to test them between each guest, delaying the check-in times for all guests? And they DID replace the dryer immediately once the guest informed them it wasn't working. You may be surprised how much abuse hotels and timeshares receive from their own members as well as cash guests. At OKW, studio guests can see into the one bedroom living room from the balcony if the shades are not closed, Once while I was in a studio I saw a grandmother and grandchild jumping up and down on the couches in the living room. The pets the OP saw were not randomly roaming, they were with their owners. And again, even though the OP says that MS said that the pets were not there from people relocating from the campgrounds...how honestly, would MS...who is not even onsite, know? With the norrmal high occupancy of DVC, problems will arise. It is impossible to have someone test every outlet and every appliance between guests. Unless guests report issues, how would engineering know there is a problem?

While the problems should NOT have happened, the OP did make the choice to stay in the unit and live with the issues rather than relocate. Most people would've relocated and let engineering fix the problems in an unoccupied unit.

As a landlord myself, you'd be surprised at the problems even long term tenants don't report, and that cost more money by waiting for when they move out, also delaying the abilty to have new tenants move in.

IMHO If things didn't work, it smelled bad & mold was present, I don't understand why the multiple room occupants that came before the OP didn't reports all this. It's incumbent on every occupant to report problems or they build up & get worse over time. Also, if offered an alternative, best to take it rather than let issues spoil your enjoyment.

No where in your original post did you indicate the dog could barely walk. you said elderly. You only added to that once a comment was made about judging just because the dog didn't have a vest. I still maintain you are judging based on a small 30 sec snippet of their lives without actually knowing anything about them, the dog or their situation.

I agree with both of you, in that service dogs are supposed to serve a purpose but not one single thing in OP said indicated the dogs were misbehaved, or doing anything that would indicate they were not service dogs, other than going to the bathroom. And even service dogs have to pee. Oh and the one dog appeared "elderly" Depending on the type of task the dog was trained to perform, an elderly dog could still do them. An old dog could still alert you to many medical conditions they are trained to perform. The point is, y'all have no idea at all what task those dogs are supposed to perform for their owners. You are judging just based off a sentence that the dog was elderly and they peed in the grass, because you don't like seeing animals at hotels. That's no better than judging people parked in a handicapped spot because "they look just fine, must be lazy" because they aren't visibly disabled. Spending this much time being angry or bothered by something that literally had zero affect on you, must make for an unhappy existence. If the dogs were barking and being a nuisance, ok, I can see that. Or if they were running amuck causing problems jumping on people, sure. These dogs just existed, and had the nerve to pee. Honestly, I'd rather be at a hotel full of dogs than one full of kids. Dogs are usually better behaved and cleaner lol.
Been on these boards since the Prodigy days...always an overwhelming defense for anything Disney or handicap. Are there real conditions (like emphysema that don't present like a broken leg = YES) and dos Southwest now openly talk about the angel flights where 15 people "need" wheel chairs to board but are miraculously heal when they land also, YES. I typed many, many words. Me thinks doth protest too much.
Yay to Publix for stopping the madness.

HAHAHAHA yes, of course, I should have hired a licensed property inspector for my unit. Can someone provide me with a definition of moderator vs. shill? This is supposedly a forum to discuss things Disney not a Disney paid for advertisement. Five more calls today - from OKW to me. It's non stop but I still only have 1 roll of toilet paper in a 2 bed villa. I still have sheets that were SOAKED and left to dry on the bed (NOBODY was here all day and the bed was made, presumably by Disney or we have a wayyyyy bigger problem). How would another room explain the sheets, the towels, the dogs, the toilet paper?

FOUR owner's lockers; $600 in groceries on refrigerator and cupboards - on my way to MCO - it was supposed to be solvd. We wouldn't even know about all the defective electrical units until our guests were here and we had to do software update to the $34.99 MBs.. AND, why would I believe another room wouldn't have as many or more problems? Stop blaming the guest and try to hold the folks that charge $9.18/pt (for me times 1600) responsible.

This is a problem all over the place …. Needs to be nipped but probably too late now like a lot of other things …. How long until someone brings an “emotional support” goat or chicken? The day is coming … thankfully i did see some push back on a recent trip out west so perhaps there is hope …
Publix is hard core on this and so are the airlines. It's not even about different "support" animals. This is lying about SERVICE animals. A whole different class - one that should be allowed.

Also, Front desk said they were not relocated. YOU weren't here. Gurgling suitcase can attest to how empty the place was.

Nailed it and thank you! NOTHING to with a storm that did NOT hit Orlando.

The policy is service dogs only I believe … well behaved house pets aren’t service dogs ..

Just saw 2 dogs get off my last Delta flight … neither service dogs so still some work to do or else I’m bringing my chicken on board

You are right in all of this … don’t let them make this out to be your fault because you didn’t change rooms

We do a quick Look but I never thought to check outlets if we didnt use them…chances are we probably wouldn’t either.
Please, please, this isn't a defense for OKW sloppiness. IF I didn't use the dryer would not make having a bad dryer okay. IF I didn't ant t use the toaster would NOT make a BROEN toaster okay. That's not how it works. Things do not get better, if the light is not shone. People have to be made aware ad stand up not gloss over bad service.

Thank you. The FANS and paid folks have been an issue for 25+ of this years on this forum.

My dues, which are considerable ~15K/yr(!) have every right, as does every other member, to expect the villas to be maintained.

This is not subjective.

I will definitely be doing the check now. And who would think of checking outlets, but I will.
You have to check every faucet, every outlet, every appliance, bring a therometer ) for the oven, microwave, freezer, and refrigerator (oh, and add time to run these sufficiently along with doing a wash and dry of clothes), open the folded beds, come one...that isn't reasonable or the definition of a deluxe resort on vacation. HOLD DVC and WDW to their responsibilities not take them on a your own.

First off, I am a volunteer here. Moderator's opinions are their own. We receive NO compensation from the DISBoards, nor from Disney or DVC. And again, you could have prevented all these calls by simply accepting the new room, packing your groceries back in the bags they were delivered in, or if you shopped in person, the bags you brought them to your rooom in from the store, and letting bell services move everything for you. and why, pray tell, are you so overly concerned about someone else's dogs? How would MS know whether the animals were part of a weather evacuation or not? Especially when it is doubtful that decision came from DVC or MS and likely from Disney Cash reservations? How would another room explain the sheets, the towels, the dogs, the toilet paper? The new room would have had fresh sheets, not wet ones, and fresh towels, so that issue would have been avoided completely, right?

I realize dogs are not normally allowed at OKW...but again, things happen...and how would it affect you personally, if they weren't service dogs? Again, OKW has allowed pets when people were rehoused there for several years during storms.

Pets are generally allowed on flights if they are small enough to fit in carriers under the seat, so why is having a non-service dog on the flight an issue? So as long as your chicken fits in a carrier under the seat.... There is also NO documentation requirements for service animals, and I do have issues with that...that is something the ADA could address relatively easily with actual service animal trainers. Personally, I'd never travel with an animal, unless I was moving my residence to a new location, or unless I truly needed a service animal. But many people do like traveling with their animals.

Sadly this was the experience we had with OKW on our first stay. The room just looked dingy. To say we were disappointed with our first DVC stay is an understatement. Fortunately, we had a split stay and during that stay we also stayed at BWV and AKV but it was an unimpressive first DVC stay and we don't have plans to return to OKW soon. At least until the next hard goods refurb is completed.

The smell was day 2. Th dryer as day three; the were sheets were day 5. Another room may or may not have prevented that AND bell services was not offered. I bring things for my guests. Flowers, Kleenex, Lucite containers for makeup, candy dishes with candy, decorations, toiletries, knives, pans, liquor, etc...ALL of it would have needed to be moved as I was leaving for MCO. I hadn't a clue how many more issues there would haven been in this villa or another one. No doubt this isn't the only villa with problems. My not moving is not the answer to the continuous issues in the room. The smell was not related to the outlets or the toaster or the shower or the mold or the stains. Just stop. WE deserve better.

There was a day I would defend OKW. Now, I have to rethink everything.

We were in first class, Dogs walked off the flight so idk if there were carriers behind us or not … common sense needs no documentation …. service animals ok, pets are not .. letting this stuff go uncalled on is exactly what got us here
