So I got this crazy idea that being a FL resident means you can't do the DDP and I always get it confused with the one that means you get a discount on your meals (not sure what that is called anyways)... but I ended up chatting with a CM for a long time about it and learned that FL residents can do this too!

So after I asked him my bazillion questions about how it works since it seems all so confusing to me, I was about to give him the ok. . . and that's when I had one last question which ended the whole thing and will keep me a DDP virgin for now and I just wanted to verify this and ask what you all do...

I am going for 3 days, 2 nights but will be driving from Miami Friday night and leaving Sunday after spending the day at BW & DTD - so we are only spending one day in the parks. He said that you have to purchase the DDP for the amount of nights you stay, meaning 2 full days of meals - is this right?? So I said forget it and am not wondering how this works and what I should do next time. We always take 2 driving days and it really sucks since it sounds like this plan doesn't work for commuters at all. What do you all do?

IF you are only going to be there for 2 nights then you would have 2 table service and 2 counter service credits plus of course 2 snack credits. How late do you get in to the hotel? Would you be able to use those credits for say a buffet breakfast (1TS), CS lunch, sit down dinner (1ts), and then breakfast (CS) before you leave. That would use all of your credits. Or you could use the last counter service for lunch at DTD before you leave for the day. It could work in your favor.

It's not that Florida residents can't get the plan - it's that you can't get the plan with a room only reservation; you have to book a package. That means that unless you have an annual pass, you have to buy tickets as part of your package. If you have an annual pass, you can buy a room/dining package without tickets.

Before they came up with the AP package, a lot of Florida residents who usually had an annual pass (or got better discounts booking room only and not a package) and did not book room/tickets packages.

The above is correct - for a two night stay on the dining plan, at checkin you would receive 2 TS credits, 2 CS credits and 2 snack credits per person to use until midnight of your checkout day. You could also use both TS credits up at a signature restaurant and eat counter service the next day.

You also don't have to eat at the parks. There are many restaurants in resorts and some at DTD that take dining credits.
