Never challenge a DISer to find a deal--a Nov/Dec PTR 11/26: Today's the day!!!

Decisions made!!!

And we will now be staying at POP before to CR! That's right after reading so much Pop love here, I called yesterday afternoon and made the switch! After looking at MeMom's photos, I am super excited to have time to explore Pop a bit. Once early Sunday morning hits...

We will be packing up and hopping into a CAB based on all of your suggestions. After crunching numbers and reading your horror stories, we realized that we were staying at CR for convenience and it's not very convenient to get there and have no luggage!

Yay, I'm glad you decided to go with POP and the cab!!! You will feel such a relief!!! Not sure if you booked a standard or preferred but I have to recommend building 6, top floor = less noise than the buildings around the pool and just as close to the food! :) :woohoo:

Glad to hear the rooms are bigger. We've got to find room for that PnP and it has me so nervous!! Also, we've never stayed in a value so a newer feel will be important.

Jill put the pack & play over in the sink area behind the curtain. It seemed to work perfectly for them. She just pulled the curtain to and Bella went right to sleep.

Ok, I am really loving the Pop idea. With our later flight having the food court and shopping open will be perfect. I can get the kids tucked in and go wander to burn off Disney adrenaline!

I think you will like the food court and gift shop. The gift shop CM's are nice. The food court CM's seem to be just normal fast-food workers, though, not a lot of Disney friendliness that I saw.

They have great photos and make everyone who stops by feel like family. Seriously, after reading for a few weeks you are going to want to send them all Christmas presents.

This gave me a good 'laugh out loud' laugh.

Where do I send my wish list? :santa:

You know we want everyone to feel like a back door guest over at our place. ::yes:: The more the merrier. And don't forget to bring food. ;)

I went back and reread your story to Ryan and then I quoted him the cost of cab fare. Long story short, we are cabbing it! Thanks for the offer though! ;)

We have cabbed a few times for different reasons, and it has always been worth the money to do so.

that girl has a way of melting hearts. It's amazing how well she has completed our family.

Precious girl! :cutie:
What would life be like without her???

It is so easy to get sucked into the boards at night.

I get lost on here sometimes, too, and don't realize an hour has passed and I haven't moved a muscle.

I think you've made some great decisions that will add some wonderful memories to your trip...and take away some not so pleasant ones perhaps! ;)

Pop is what I describe as a "shiny, happy resort." I'll never forget the first moment I walked into the lobby...my first words were: "It's so shiny and pretty!" and it really is! The pools are fantastic, the food court is huge (and while that is somewhat frustrating when its packed), it has a ton of variety. We only had one night there a few trips ago, and I want to give it another try, for more than one night. I'd also purposely avoid eating in the food court during the rush hours because it gets VERY busy and difficult to navigate with a stroller/children. Do it MeMom style-someone goes and gets the food and you eat in the room. :thumbsup2

Yay for the Pop! There really is so much to explore, it's such a fun resort. We did the scavenger hunt and that let us find and appreciate all the little details. :thumbsup2

I think sharing my story would make anyone take a cab with their stuff... soggy bags and clothing are terrible!

Yay for POP. We love it and Lord willing we will be staying there in December too!

:welcome: So excited to hear about a first timer. We've never been at Christmas, but Disney is magical any time of year. Who all is in your group? Can't wait to hear more about your upcoming trip!

Thanks for the warm welcome. We will be at Pop from Nov 30- Dec 9. There is me, DH, DS (who will be 3 at the time of the trip) and DD4. I am so excited!!!

Yay for Pop! I really enjoyed staying there, and I'm sure we will stay there again sometime.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

I hope you made it out to the store to get you some Vera B for your birthday!! I was at the Library today to return my movies and pick up my books for next week. They were having story-time. I thought of you!!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes Megan! On my birthday, my hubby had taken the day off of work and planned to meet a bunch of my friends from Indy at the Indy Children's Museum. Afterwards, we went to the Old Spaghetti Factory in downtown Indy. He had purchased a birthday cake from a Mason bakery (Sweet Sinsations). It was a super fun day, but by the time we got home, I was BEAT. I convinced him to run to Five Guys for burgers and we just hung out for the evening.

Last night, I did leave as soon as he got home from work and went to the VB store by Jungle Jims and grabbed a new Betsy bag for 50% off. I don't think it will work for a park bag, but it'll make a great day to day for me!

Jill put the pack & play over in the sink area behind the curtain. It seemed to work perfectly for them. She just pulled the curtain to and Bella went right to sleep.
Oh good!! When we have stayed at mods we put the baby there and I was hoping there would be enough room for it to work at Pop too! Getting info like this is one of the many many reasons I love the DIS!

I think you will like the food court and gift shop. The gift shop CM's are nice. The food court CM's seem to be just normal fast-food workers, though, not a lot of Disney friendliness that I saw.
Since we will not have DDP on this leg of the vacation I am very excited to have a good size food court. There always seem to be so many options there and the portions look big enough to split!

This gave me a good 'laugh out loud' laugh.

Where do I send my wish list? :santa:

You know we want everyone to feel like a back door guest over at our place. ::yes:: The more the merrier. And don't forget to bring food. ;)

PM it to me before I leave for Disney. Since I'll be there right after Thanksgiving, I can get all of your shopping done well before the holidays. I definitely feel like a backdoor guest at your house, you guys really are the best!

We have cabbed a few times for different reasons, and it has always been worth the money to do so.

We did a cab once when we were late for an ADR. Even Mr. Pennypincher said it was worth the extra minutes of nap everyone had!

Precious girl! :cutie:
What would life be like without her???
Certainly not nearly enough fun!

I get lost on here sometimes, too, and don't realize an hour has passed and I haven't moved a muscle.

Glad I am not the only one!

Thanks for the food court advice. It's a very real possibility that even though Aileen will be 15 months old when we go, she will not be walking so I need think like we have an infant. Eating by the pools or in the room, depending on the weather makes a whole lot of sense!

I think Pop is a good choice!! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I have not had any second thoughts since we made the switch!

Where did you find the scavenger hunt at? This sounds like fun!

No kidding Laura! That was such a mess!

Yay for POP. We love it and Lord willing we will be staying there in December too!

Saying a prayer that everything comes together for you!

That's such a fun age for a Disney trip! Every character you meet will be the cat's pajamas to your little ones! Maybe with the overlap of vacations, we'll run into each other somewhere in the parks!

Yay for Pop! I really enjoyed staying there, and I'm sure we will stay there again sometime.

I am always glad to hear when people are looking forward to going back to a resort!

Oh :thumbsup2 More DISers there at the same time! Hope to get to say hi!

I think we need to try to figure out a DISmeet or two!! :woohoo:

Popping in! I thought I had already subscribed to your PTR, but I guess I was wrong... :confused3 Oh well, I'm here now! I have to say your kiddos are SO stinking cute!!! I'm so jealous you get to stay at CR! I stayed there with my grandparents when I was 4, but haven't stayed since. I'm hoping we make it there eventually since our goal is to stay at all of the hotels. We are slowly making progress, but end up going to favorite places over and over instead of trying new....

Joining in on the fun, sorry I am late.

You will love Pop Century it is a fun resort especially at Christmas. I love the Christmas music they play as you are walking around the resort. The food court and gift shop are the best around. The bus to the World of Disney is a short trip.

Getting to the Hoop De Doo from the CR is a fun boat ride. There is a boat that runs from CR to WL to FW about ever 10 to 15 mins. We stayed at BLT this summer and my DH did the Segway tour at FW one morning and the boat ride to FW took about 5 mins. The boat arrives at the dock that leads to Hoop De Doo. The walk to MK from CR is great in the mornings and faster than the Monorail. The Monorail is fun just take a little longer with the stops. Although one morning for the fun of it we rode the monorail and got off at the transportation center then got on the boat going to the MK. I loved all the transportation options.

I'm glad you were able to take advantage of the sale! I kind of wanted a purse but I've just been using my small VB backpack as my purse. It just seems easier in stores, at Kings Island, etc. I love the fact that they are soooo easy to wash and line dry!!!

Sounds like you had a great birthday! We're planning on doing Cincinnati things this weekend, Dad and my brother are going to the Reds game tomorrow, mom and I are doing a Pedicure day I think, and Sunday morning we're going to go to Kings Island and hopefully they won't have a black-out like on the 4th of July!!

I saw a nail place called USA nails near the Kroger (near Kings Island) off of The Beach exit and they advertised $27 pedicure special! Not sure if that would be closer for you or Bridgewater Falls!

I created it actually, with big help from the Pop page here on the DIS.

I chose about 20 items from here --> http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=31367456&postcount=2264 and listed them along with a map of the resort on the back of each list. In teams of two (in our case, boys versus girls) we had to take pictures of each item. The team with the most found items won. Here's how it went --> Boys vs Girls Scavenger Hunt It was a lot of fun.

I think we need to try to figure out a DISmeet or two!! :woohoo:

Absolutely :goodvibes

:welcome: Thanks for the compliments on the kiddos. I think they are pretty darling as well! :goodvibes When we got that 40% off PIN code, I immediately thought big. DH doesn't like to do Disney too often (every 18 months is about right for him) so when we go we live it up, room wise. I'd love to try every property too, but with the addition of Miss Aileen, it's going to be a lot harder!

:welcome: Thanks for joining in! The more I hear about Pop the more excited I am. I think it'll be an interesting contrast to go from Pop to CR, seeing as how different they are! One of the reasons I am strongly considering HDDR is because it'll be so easy to get there on this trip. Who knows where we will be staying next time!

I looked at the backpacks too. I liked how there were so many pockets inside the Betsy. I need all the help with organization I can get! That sounds like a great Cincy weekend. My hubby is baseball'ing it this weekend as well. He is headed to Cleveland to go watch the Tigers play. We are die hard Tigers fans here. Have a great time at KI! We were there Friday of 4th of July weekend and were so glad we went then after reading about your experience. Thx for the tip on the pedi place! That's right around the corner (well the big corner)
!

Absolutely :goodvibes

That is such a cool idea! I am going to have to find things that are a lot more obvious and I think we would have to make it a whole family thing to do. Hmm... one more thing to go on my to do list! :rolleyes1

:worship::worship::worship: Awesome idea!!!

Isn't it amazing?? I love jumping off of other's creativity! :lmao:
