Never Been to DLP

If you can afford it got for DLH. New York and Newport Bay are a bit tired in standard rooms, although ok, and Newport Bay is quite a trek to get to the park. Alternatively compromise on distance and accomodation and upgrade to a junior suite in NY or NPB to get VIP fast passes.

Regards

I'm on the same cruise as you too!

We stayed at the Sequoia Lodge 2 years ago before the Transatlantic Cruise and liked it. It did remind us of the WL - just not as deluxy. We really liked going to DLP, it was much easier to get around there than WDW since you can walk everywhere. It reminded us of DL. Wish we could add it before our cruise, but we're spending the extra time in London.

We're going for broke!!! we are actually goingto stay in DLP precruise then head to London precruise as well for a total of 9 days. then cruise!!! then go home after cruise.

Right on...looking forward to meeting you. that picture is adorable!!!

If you stay at DL hotel standard, do you get VIP fast passes?

Please choose DLH!!!

If you didnt and you chose one of the others, you'd get a horrible feeling of sadness whenever you walked under the DLH at the entrance to the park!

(I do anyway! One of my trips my mum gave me the choice, DLH or HNY and I chose HNY as I looooove NY and thought it looked cool - am still regreting it now!)

Luckily in 2 weeks I'll be at the DLH and I can finally let it go! lol.

At DLH standard you do not get VIP fast passes - you have to stay in a suite or castle club. You do get some special DLH fast passes which I think is 3 but you have to hand them in when you use them, unlike VIP fastpasses which you just show and go on the rides, again and again!!

June is pretty busy, but not crazy (unless you go at the weekend). Waits are usually about 30-45 minutes for most things, some could be a walk on, and some, like Crush could be at 75 mins or so at peak, 40 at non peak.

But be advised the hours are shorter compared to American parks (likely to be an 8pm close) and there will not be fireworks or Fantillusion in June. They start in July running through August.

30-45 minutes isn't bad. the way the DVC points work (mind this is based on 2008)...

regular season June 15-July 12
peak season is July 13

our cruise is Tuesday July 6-18 therefore we would need to go precruise to avoid peak points usage which is currently 74 weekend or weekday for DLH.

I am thinking a few days the week before the cruise. DLH is 58 points for week nights. we have 200 points. 3 nights would be 174. but if we stay at Sequoia, it would be 26 points weeknights and 33 weekend. if i could upgrade to a suite or castle club (can you do that at all the resorts?) could i get the VIP fast passes? If it is the same amount of points as standard DLH, it might be worth it to get the suite or castle club at sequioa.

as of now our planned trip itinerary is as followed...

June 27 red eye flight to London
June 28 Train to DLP
June 29 DLP
June 30 DLP
July 1 city of Paris for the day
July 2 train to London
July 3 London
July 4 London
July 5 Dover
July 6 cruise

we are flying in and out of London because we are using air miles for Virgin Atlantic, and they don't fly to Paris. Like the idea of the chunnel for my kid. he enjoys train rides. the idea of taking a train under the ocean is awesome to him.:thumbsup2

Sounds like a great trip!! I'm not sure that you can get suites or Castle Club on DVC points, but you could certainly ask. You also may be able to request an upgrade for additional cash when you check in. The VIP fastpasses would be great, but I'm not sure that they are really necessary in June. We went to DLRP in late June/early July a few years ago, and found that the parks really were not very crowded. By using the regular fastpass, we were able to do everything we wanted with minimal waits.

We also took the Eurostar once from London to DLRP, and my kids really loved it! It was the highlight of the trip.

We will be on the same cruise with you, but will not do DLRP this time, because we were there only a year ago. We will probably do London pre-cruise, although I am thinking about getting outside of London to see more of England. Don't really want to rent a car, though, so I'm not sure where we would go.

Have fun planning!

that was my thinking as well. probably going to stick with standard DLH during the week. use regular fast passes. 30-40 minute waits are very doable. I am also not worried about early closing either. we could use the time to relax a little because we will still have a very long trip ahead of us.
I cant wait for the cruise. see you then!!!

Glad you chose DLH!!!

Also, with a standard DLH room - you get one FP per day to be used on any ride once! So a little perk. :)
