Never been to DL! Need help!

My husband and I have never been to DL. We go every year to WDW but never DL. We are thinking of taking advantage of the 3 night/days get 2 free deal.

I'm wondering where to stay. It will be just 2 adults and we'll want a king bed room. We were looking at Hotel Menage. For budget reason's we'll want to stick with a moderate.

Any suggestions?

Also we are looking to go the last week of July. For those of you that go that time of year - will I have any trouble getting into the park? I know it's peak season and the wait will be long but what kind of wait time will we be looking at?

Start with the stickies at the top. Plan a hotel close by - easy to walk. Check out the ones across the street and Hojo, which is down a ways but still easy walking distance. Plan your days - duh - It'll probably be easier than WDW. Decide on what shows/ parades to see... Are you planning to go anywhere else in the area? Are you a park comando?

July wasn't too bad... in 2006. It wasn't as crowded as early Dec. Avoid the holiday though.

Hi, HoJo's always seems to get good reviews on here. It's a little further than some of the hotels, but it's still only about a 10 minute walk (about as far away as the Disneyland or Paradise Pier hotels). It also has the advantage of only having internal corridors, where as many of the local hotels seem to have external corridors. Hojo's is also a fairly good value hotel from what I can tell, though the prices I see are probably different to those available to you as I tend to look at mine through expedia as it's easier when dealing with booking internationally as I can include flights etc...

We went end of July last summer and I didn't find it too crowded. Nothing like right after New Years! Mornings are nice, you can get a lot done. And there was never any problem getting in and out of parks. They were not near full. On Jan. 1st and 2nd we had to wait in line to get back in the park after leaving and returning. During the summer, once the main part of the park goers have come, there was no line to get into DL and DCA. Just walked through all afternoon and evening. I kept saying when we went in Jan that I couldn't wait for summer because it wasn't so crowded!

Why not do a disneyland hotel especially since your saving money with the buy 3 get 2 free deal?

If not then try Hojo or Fairfield Inn. Both within walking distance and are decent.

Never been in July so I can't help you there.

We did Tropicana a few weeks ago. Not much to look at outside, but the walk was perfect - can't get much closer! The rooms are clean with a microwave and fridge - it was chilly in March so we didn't check out the pool. I was definitely a bang for the buck though!

Unless you plan on spending time at the hotel - I'd get something close distance wise. Walking over made it so simple.

I second HoJo's. Hotel Menage is ok but kind of a hike, and you have to cross over the freeway.
