Never been this sick before.. a little scared

When I had mono my glands were so swollen that I could not feel my jaw bone. I don't remember my throat being sore though. Hopefully they find an answer for you soon!

my 16 yr old dd had 3 negative tests for mono too but it ended up being mono-after the 4th very positive test.

She got it the day before Christmas and could not eat for 10 days and did not leave the bed for 3 weeks. We had to help her to the bathroom. Get tested again. And let us know how you are doing. You poor thing.

I just wanted to say good luck. In 1980 I was so sick from a sore throat. I refused to go to a doc because I was afraid I would get a shot. I was sick for weeks, even taking some antibiotics that belonged to a friend of a friend. Ultimately, I went to the doc. He gave me the appropriate treatment...some pills I took for a few days until I started feeling better. No shot, no nothing(other than a glance down my throat).

I know how you feel - I will do ANYTHING to avoid going to a hospital. But after 3 kids and a couple of other things, I've realized they are not all that bad. The nurses REALLY do care and want to make you better. (The doctors are looking out for you, too, it's just that you'll see more of the nurses.)

Thanks so much for all of your support and prayers! Well I went to the doctor yesterday and my blood count was down from 15500 to 12000 (should be at 10000). She said it was a significant improvement for just 24 hours. She said my glands were still swollen, but had improved as well. I can swallow now and, although it still hurts some, it's nowhere as bad as it was! So... no hospital for me !!!! YAY!!! I am to keep taking the medicine and go back at the end of the week, but I am progressing well now! Hopefully, I'll be okay for Spring Break next week! Thanks so much for everyone's concerns and comforts!!! You guys are great!

So glad to hear you're feeling better and I hope you have a great time on your spring break! What a relief you didn't have to go to the hospital (but really......it's not such a bad place if you need to go there). Take good care of yourself and take it slow for a while until you get your strength back.
