Never be the first in line for a character meet and greet if solo.

Trust me don't do it, it just creates an awkward situation for you, the cast member, and character. More like don't stand around where a character is supposed to be especially if you're a guy because of judgmental stares and other immature things people say and think about you. Try to be at least 5th in line or the back even better. Please take it from me.

I'm not sure what your experience was but I've seen many solo people meeting characters and never encountered any judgement or hostility. Meeting a character at Disney is a perfectly normal thing to do, even when solo. A picture with Mickey Mouse or whoever is a fantastic souvenir that many would want to remember their solo trip.

Sorry if your experience was negative.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I've done solo pics many times but not the front of the line. I've been the only one in line and no CM nor the characters made me feel weird.
I think you are just another Dis-fan that should have as many pictures with your favorite characters as you want.

I'm sorry to hear that! For me, someone who can be incredibly shy and introverted, I definitely tried to think of a question to ask each character, especially the face characters to get the conversation started. I also had the characters sign a reusable bag and that offered a good conversation starter too.

Sorry to hear that. I was first in line to see Safari Mickey & Minnie in AK, and it was pleasant. They actually spent a lot of time with me. Kept doing silly things. A little baby, who was next in line, actually ran over during the pics and as a joke that family and I took a picture of all of us together. Only once I had a CM say "all alone?" I said how am I all alone when I'm in this crowded park. She laughed and said I guess you're right. You're there for your enjoyment, don't let negative people bring you down.

Never seen an issue with a single adult (no matter M or F) at a character meet & greet. Not saying it didn't happen, but I wouldn't hesitate to be first in line as a single.

I was a solo adult first in line to meet Chip and Dale last year and had a great time interacting with them. Chip took my phone and tried taking a selfie.

Any advice for adults doing meet and greets? I'm going with my family of four (all adults) and I'd love to get a picture with Belle. It's one of my favorite movies and I heard the queue was pretty cool. But do you say anything to them? Isn't it awkward because I'm not a kid and I know she's not really Belle? Anything you say to break the ice or do you "play along"?

What queue for meeting Belle are you talking about? In Epcot, she just meets outside along the lagoon, which is pretty. In Magic Kingdom, she does a quick meet & greet after the little show, but I do not know if everyone gets the chance to meet her or just those that volunteered to be in the show.

It is only as awkward as you make it. I have meet characters solo and I have meet characters as a group of adults. Most of the characters lead the interaction. Usually as you walk up to a face character, such as Belle, they will start asking you questions and you just answer them. If for some reason they do not, I usually say hi and ask them how they are today, have a quick picture and be on my way. With fur characters, it is usually a lot easier as they have to be very animated.

Enchanted Tales with Belle in Magic Kingdom - it's a show? Do you sit in a theater?

This is very helpful thank you.
