Never assigned a room

If you were at the desk, why was there any conversation about online checkin? That’s just wasting your time. Focus on actually checking in.

I almost never got room ready notifications. I noticed that I had both test and email marked. I unmarked one of them, and now I get the notifications.



I don’t think it was ever the issue. Removing MBs was a form of jiggling the handle, so to speak. Just doing something to shake it up, and that would help. If people has the same issues without lots of active bands, and they did, they would just digitally jostle something else.
It’s just the way the conversation happened.

Me: we haven’t been assigned a room yet.

CM: click click click. Well you never did online checkin.

The problems with "too many MBs" in the database have long since remedied to the point that it's the equivalent of an "old wives' tale" now that just won't go away. This problem was remedied several years ago now.
Years ago, like May 2021? We were at the Polynesian.
We're not really sure what it accomplished but three family members couldn't open the doors to our room until we went to the front desk and they removed nearly every old magic band they had.

I've seen the front desks use it for cover for other issues too. They know about it also. Whether you choose to believe what I said is completely up to you. I'm just providing information that I know.

It's Disney tech, I don't think we'll ever know why it wasn't working. :laughing: To me it's even funnier that it's supposed to be known that it doesn't do anything and they still give it as an excuse. It did allow them to start getting into our rooms immediately upon removing the extras, but there's no way to know if they could have refreshed something without doing that because they didn't try it.
 

International member here, I always do online check in and just once received an email with a room number assigned, never again. Last february we arrived to Polynesian Villas around 1:00 am because we had a late flight to Miami from Madrid and still had to to go to the front desk because there was no room number showing up in MDE... :( We´ve lots of activated MB in our Owner´s Locker, so I guess I´ll deactivate most of them for our next summer trip and let´s see what happens :rolleyes1

We’re international too. I’ve never had an issue before our trip last Dec. It’s more annoying than one would think, isn’t it? Your room could be ready at 1pm but you’d never know because it never migrates to the app. I wasn’t at all impressed to have to schlep it to the BC lobby at 2am either. We always used to go directly to the room…
 
I detest mobile check-in. First time I tried it many years ago the Staff at SSR totally screwed up my account & DVC points. They changed the lead on my reservation to the name of one of my guests so room charging ended up being denied because the names didn't match my credit card info. And when they tried to straighten out the mess they had made they ended up making me get charged double points that I was left needing to deal with MS after the fact to get back after I realized what they had done. Last year I reluctantly had to finally use it again due to the new procedures basically requiring me to use it. Sat in the lobby of SSR several hours waiting for the room ready text after arrival. Watched while numerous CM's greeted, welcomed & helped many other arriving guest while occasionally looking over at me but otherwise totally ignoring me. Finally had to go to the desk to get my room assignment but still had to wait for the room ready text after that. Not looking forward to having to deal with it again this June but I'll be at Kidani so hoping for a better experience. I think I'll select my arrival time to be several hours before I actually expect to get there.

Am I missing something? If the front desk told you what room you were assigned, why did you need the room ready text after that? (Not making light of the fact that your experience was bad, just trying to understand this one piece of it.)

I assume the room wasn’t ready when they approached the desk? When I had to call in Dec they finally pushed the room-ready email and the app populated with my room number. So maybe they were sent away and told they would get a room assignment via the app soon?

Room still wasn't ready when I approached the desk. It was after 4:30 pm and I was told they were still cleaning it.
 
Never had no room assignment. More like the magic bands never want to open my door and need reprogrammed. Happened past 3 of 4 trips. Very annoying
