For those off site non drivers out there, a word of warning about getting to Typhoon Lagoon on Disney Transportation. No longer do they provide direct transportatation to the water parks from the Ticket and Transportation centre. You now have to make your way to a Disney hotel in order to jump on a shuttle to the water parks. Last week, we were dropped off at Epcot then jumped on the monorail to the TTC thinking we could go directly to Typhoon Lagoon. We then had to board a bus to the Caribbean Beach resort and finally board a bus to Typhoon Lagoon from there. The whole process took about 1hr and 15mins each way which is a large chunk of your day if you dont know the times of the shuttles (which we obviously didn't). So in future we will definetely plan a lot differently even if it means biting the bullet and driving.

I think the direct shuttles were scrapped a couple of years ago? I suppose the alternative would be to take a bus to Downtown Disney and then risk running across the road to get to TL.

While it is certainly possible to do WDW without a car, it's cautionary tales like this that make me want the flexibility that comes with your own transport. We normally keep a 'swim pack' (swimming trunks, towel, shower kit) in the boot of the car in case we suddenly get struck by the urge to visit one of the water parks. Popping in for an hour or so while on your way back to the hotel/villa then becomes possible, without having to plan a major expedition of the kind that Peewakio experienced.

Rob - completely agree. Sometimes I read the trip reps by people who choose not to drive, and I admit that the chance to drink alcohol in the parks and with meals really appeals... but the tales of inconvenience abound and I am prepared to make this modest sacrifice (DW won't drive in US!) for the flexibility and time-saving a car gives. (and don't tell anyone, but we occaisionally go the the 'other' place as well!)
