NEVER AGAIN! A holiday family vacation report...

Great pictures from Spectro and the Fireworks. It does seem like you got a lot in for the time of year you went! My niece got there on New Years Day and was there for a week, they froze!

Sorry you walked all the way to the train station for nothing, but it's great you got to experience Jungle Cruise with a better skipper!!

I don't think for one minute you are a go with the flow person. You went at a very busy time of year and a rather short visit. You watched every penny and imagine family wasn't all that thrilled either.

I'm not quite sure how to respond to this, and frankly, everything I want to say in response sounds snarky, so I'll just say this: I seriously doubt any of the family had a bad trip, as they're all asking us when we're going to take them to Disney again. From their perspective, this trip was a success, and ultimately, that's all that really matters.

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures! We did get a lot done - arriving for rope drop makes such a huge difference! I never would have done it if MIL hadn't insisted on detailed itineraries for each park, which led me to subscribe to TGM... it was definitely worth it! Yeah, the weather was REALLY cold, except for on NYE... I hope your niece had a good trip, in spite of the weather.

Aww, thanks! The shadowbox took forever, too. That's actually the only one I've completed - I can't decide if I want to do the others by trip or by park or... well, you get the idea. I wish I had the patience to do entire scrapbooks!

I have enjoyed reading about your trip so far! We have never been as a family and my daughter got SO excited when she saw your pics from AK! Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to read how the rest of the trip went! We are going in March 22-27 and it will be our children's first visit, as well as mine as far as I am concerned. The last time I was there I was only 5 years old and I only remember It's a Small World and that is it! My DH went a couple times when he was in junior high. Anyways, we invited my mother to join us because my kids are very close to my mother. I felt kind of bad about telling my DH that I didn't want his dad to join us this trip, but I know for certain that we ALL would have been majorly irritated by the end of the first day (he went with us on a trip to SD years back. Ugh). I have dreamed about this trip for so long and I might be acting selfish, but he isn't even really that close to our kids and we just want this trip to be as enjoyable as possible. So I really don't blame you for wanting your next trip to be without all the extra peeps! Wow! That was a big ramble from me there. Sorry.

Don't worry about rambling... I do it all the time! I hope you guys have a great trip in March... we'll just miss you, we'll be there the 13th-18th. We'll probably invite our parents again, just not all at the same time.

I too think the response was perfect Michelle, I will never figure out what makes people think it's ok to leave those kind of snarky remarks on a trip report, if you don't like it, don't read it.

Great TR, ignore the weird replies and I am posting cause I just found out that I am going to be able to add on ONE day to a work convention in Orlando in March so I am going to DISNEY on Monday March 15th from til the parks open until I have to be at the airport WHOO HOO... I am really excited cause I did not like the idea of being in Orlando and doing no park!!! So now I will be in Orlando from March 11th- March 15...with one day at Disney and hopefully at least one dinner at DTD... Ok sorry to high jack your thread but I am SO EXCITED

Thanks! I'm glad you'll be able to add a Disney day to your work trip... I don't think I'd be able to go to Orlando and skip Disney completely, either! What park are you planning on for that day?

Hmm... If I only had one day at Disney (and I'd never be able to have just one day ), I'd probably pick.... gee, I don't know. Epcot is my favorite park, but it's not a park where I typically spend the entire day, unless my goal is to wander the World Showcase. DHS is out for me, I only do like 3 things there. I'd probably end up at MK, especially if it was a shorter day. Plus, what's a trip to Disney without seeing the castle!?!?

We'll probably take family again, but only with clearly defined rules (and only one set at a time). We (wrongly) assumed that other people would also want some time to explore things on their own. I think, as long as you come up with some ground rules/expectations ahead of time so no one gets their feelings hurt, you'll be fine. It's Disney, after all... and a bad trip to Disney is still better than a week at home!

Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying it. I'm hoping to get the next update up tomorrow... I actually got all of my grading done at work today!!! so I should have some free time this weekend to knock out another installment or two.
