Neti Pot...?

... Do they really work?

I have a serious sinus infection. Since I'm pregnant, my doctor has advised against decongestants.

A few people have recommended a neti pot. But before I run off and buy one, do they really work for sinus infections?

My brother swears by his. Said that after he used it he went over a year before he got another infection. But be prepared from what I understand the "results" are really gross.

lol...I tried to use one and almost drowned myself! It actually made matters worse for me. But others seem to like it.
I guess I just cannot use one!

Yes, they really work. Also take probiotics (safe while pregnant/bf).

I use the Sinurinse, which is the same concept as a netty pot except it uses a squirt type bottle rather than the lamp looking thing. I love mine! It took me a couple of tries to get it right, and first I felt like I was drowning. Once I got it down it became a lifesaver! Now as soon as I feel a little pressure in my sinuses, I whip out my sinurinse bottle!

Yes. It helps greatly. My 9 yr old even uses it for her allergies. It's amazing. Just make sure that you breath through your mouth and not your nose!! I take short breaths and and blow my nose right after that one side is done.

Yes they do work. I even use it after being outside and its been dusty and full of pollen. Cleared me up

Sometimes though it doesnt work right off the bat cause I am so congested.
So it takes a few times to loosen it all up.

I like mine but it's better for avoiding infections than getting rid of one. It will rinse you somewhat unless you are totally clogged. Go gently, make sure you breathe through your mouth actively so the fluid doesn't run into your ear. When I'm sick, I gargle to keep my throat clear and stop any coughing from starting. Btw, I often use half a sodium packet because I find the salt kind of burns me if I use it everyday.

I LOVE MY NETI POT!!!!

I use mine for colds, sinus headaches and for migraines. It really takes the edge off of my headaches. Eveyone's results are different, but I swear by mine. I've been using it about 2 times a week since the contractors are doing drywall in the basement & the dust is horrible. Just trying to ward off any sinus problems stemming from that.

It IS odd at first - and DON'T put your head upright or you'll get a throat full of salty water....blech...and have a lot of tissues ready - you will expel a large volume of, well, stuff!

I use my neti pot when ever my allergies are acting up or im cleaning kicking the dust up it works..as for being pregnant and already stuffed up it might take alittle time for it to break thru. You can also try taking a halls and dropping it into a pot of boiling water and standing near it/or above it the menthol in it will help open you up then you can use the neti pot easier hth I did both when I was pregnant and it worked I hope you feel better

Me too! I love the bottles because they are so much easier to use.

Any drug store in the cold med aisle, usually on a bottom shelf.

I love using my neti pot for a head cold and recommend it to everyone I know. People think it sounds too gross and won't even give it a try. I've got a head cold right now and have been using it since this started.

Me too! I love the bottles because they are so much easier to use.

Yes, the squeeze bottle! I couldn't get the hang of the neti-pot.
