Netflix: Adolescence

I tried watching but could not get through the first episode. Maybe I'll try it again, but it was hard to watch. So much evil in this world. Social media has changed everything. It is such a different world for our kids.

This show is disingenuous. UK doesn’t have a “toxic masculinity” problem or a “social media” problem. They, like the US, have an immigration problem. Almost all knife crime cases (including all the perps in the 4 cases this show is based on) are from minority immigrants. Netflix apparently has no problem in black actors playing real, historical, white characters, but they cast a white kid in a story where the real character is black. Strange for a company that’s so big on black representation. I know these facts won’t go over well on this very liberal leaning platform, but if you’re going to discuss this show like its portraying actual societal problems, then you should understand what the actual problems are. And radicalized white English boys are not the problem lol.

This isn’t about immigrants, here in the US the vast majority of violent crime is done by citizens. This movie was about an everyday average family, nice kid, good grades, no previous problems, who was under the table bullied in plain sight. As a boy, he observed his father not dealing with well with anger, in spite of not physically assaulting his family.
