Nestle Frozen Treats...has anyone called Nestle?

I'm debating whether or not the Mickey Head Ice Cream will be OK for my DD with peanut/tree nut allergies. Brenda's list shows it doesn't contain nuts but I worry about cross contamination at the factory....since Nestle makes Drumsticks.

Anyway, I'm wondering if anyone has called Nestle to ask. I found a lot of older messages and I'm not sure if it is up to date. I'll try to call but was hoping someone might have done it before me :)

I'm curious about the Itzakadoozie pops and the Mickey Head and the Frozen Lemonade.

I honestly don't use Nestle products (chocolate chips have a nut warning) so I'm on the fence if I feel it is "safe" for her. Perhaps it's not worth the risk. sigh...

thanks!

Everything I've read about Nestle would make me nervous if my child was anaphylactic allergic to peanuts. I've read a few too many accounts of a peanut showing up on a Mickey ice cream. My kids can't have milk so they haven't actually eaten them.

I am curious about the new pineapple frozen fruit bars by Nestle. I'm waiting to hear back from Special Diets to find out the exact name of these as I can't find any info online about them. They weren't on my allergy list from my December trip but they're showing up on the one I just got so I'm curious. The list just says Nestle. I don't know how well I really can trust Nestle though so I'd love to see what others think.

Here is the message I received from Nestle regarding the Mickey bars.

Thank you for your email regarding Nestlé® Ice Cream. We appreciate the time you have taken to pass your comments on to us.

For additional clarity, we do conduct a full cleaning and sanitation process at least every 42 hours when in production on the line to include after runs with nuts and prior to Mickey Bar production. Currently no peanuts, peanut inclusions or peanut variegates are run on any of our bar lines where the line where the Mickey bar is produced. Almonds are the only nuts produced on our bar lines.

Unfortunately, we do not have more specific information regarding the Soft Serve Ice Cream and/or Frozen Lemonade Cups.

We at Nestlé® Ice Cream appreciate your interest in our company and our products. We value our consumers and we thank you for the opportunity to respond to your concerns.

Sincerely,

Josh Thomas

I did sent it to Brenda Bennett to see why her information is different, but she never did get an answer from them prior to our trip.

I avoided them, like I do most Nestle products when produced on the same line.

THe only ice cream I fed my tree nut allergic DD was the Dole Whips. Here is the information on those.

Yes, our Dole Soft Serve is peanut free. Feel free to look at our specification sheets, http://precisionfoods.com/foodservice/bnd_products.cfm?start=1&id=103. There you will find information on the soft serve products. As you will see there are no peanut/tree allergens.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info, may I ask when you received the e-mail/how long ago it was?

Bolding mine....that's weird that they have no info on the frozen lemonade, it is produced by Nestle right? Or maybe it isn't. Hmm.

Thanks for the Dole Whip info. I'm glad to see they don't make a peanut butter flavored one! I think we will stick with these. Thanks for your help!

ETA: It's strange that Dole Whips isn't on the dessert/snack part of the list...I guess that's why I forgot about it. I'm guessing it's only in the parks/some resorts (I'm thinking Poly or GF, maybe?) and not at most TS restaurants right?

The Nestle information I received was in December 2009. It is however the same thing I was told by Nestle when I called them in Sept 2008. I just went on their website and submitted the question under contact us.

The Dole Whips are in MK at a stand all their own in Adventureland. I'm not sure of any where else you can get it.

I just got a response about the new Nestle Pineapple bars. They're NESTLE™ DELICIAS PINEAPPLE bars. They state gluten free, kosher and allergen free. I called Nestle to get more info. They're not done on dedicated lines. They're made on the same lines as ice cream. They extensively clean the lines before doing the Delicias bars but the Kosher designation is OU-D meaning that kashrut organization did not find it sufficient to give it a pareve designation. Depending on your level of milk allergy or intollerance, you need to decide if it's considered milk free or not. It comes down to how much do you trust their cleaning? I would trust it to be lactose free, not so sure about casein or nut. If you trust the Mickey bars to be nut free, I'd say these would be on the same level as those as far as nut allergies go.

Captain Cook's at the Poly has a self serve Dole Whip station. To my knowledge, that and Aloha Isle in Adventureland are the only two places.
