Nervous mom

DD and I are heading to Florida again, this time we'll be going to Busch Gardens for part of the trip. DD uses a wheelchair, but can transfer herself easily. The problem is, she also has asthma and a heart problem. I thought all her heart issues were cleared up when she was a baby, but now apparently she has a murmur. Anyway, I haven't fussed too much about Disney because most of the rides are pretty tame. DD is drooling to tackle all the coasters at BG, and even though the cardiologist says it's perfectly fine for her to ride whatever she wants, I'm still super nervous. Plus, I don't do roller coasters, so I just stand around biting my nails while she's riding. If any of you have been in a similar situation, I'd love to hear tips...mostly for calming my nerves!

Thanks,
Mary

I don't have an experiance on tha, but I have been known to shelter my child ( who has many heath issues). I say trust your doctor and let her try one. After she gets off check her out. Ask her how she feels and make her wait a while before trying the next. I think after you see that she is ok on one or two your fears will clam a little, but your a mom, it's your job to worry ( but not to the point you make yourself sick). I do not think her doctor would have given the OK unless he was 100% sure. I hope that you all have a safe and wonderful trip.

If the doctor has given an OK to go on roller coasters, I would say go with it.
The doctor can guide you best on what the murmur means, but many murmurs are innocent - just extra sounds that are not usually heard. If the cardiologist is comfortable with it, that should help you too.

How old is she and how tall?

If she's short, she will not be able to ride the most wild ones anyway. THe 'tamest' roller coaster at WDW is Goofy's Barnstormer in Toontown at MK. It's very short and also not very wild. I would start with that for a roller coaster.

I am not a roller coaster persson, so have never been on any at Busch Gardens. If you/she will be seeing the cardiologist again before you go, it may help you to be more comfortable to actually take a list of the wild rides she wants to go on to the doctor with you to get an opinion.
