laundry room. Is there enough washer/dryers or is there a lot of waiting? I know they have a laundry service - I might just have to do this. We did have a 1 bedroom at OKW w/a washer and dryer but we switched to the Poly and now I'm worked up over laundry. :confused3 Crazy, huh? Anyone do laundry in there room? I was thinking of washing out some clothes in the room w/Tide, hanging them to dry half way and then taking them to the laundry room to finish drying it. I guess as long as the stains are out & the heat of the dryer doesn't set them. Thanks for reading my rambling!

how long are you staying? Is laundry a must? When we stayed seven nights, I packed seven different outfits for everyone. I put each outfit for the children in ziplock bags, (socks, underware too). When they woke up in the morning, they just had to grab a bag out of their suitcases! It worked great!!!

We were at the Poly late May and the laundry room wasn't *too* bad. DH volunteered to have laundry duty (he had a good book to read!) so DD and I could run to MK for the evening and Wishes.

There were quite a few with laundry already in them and no one around but he was able to secure 2 washers and 2 dryers. He sat in the little outside waiting room reading his book and after about half an hour he went to check on the dryers. Well, they were no longer running and the clothes were still wet. That's when he realized that other guests had opened them to see what was inside (surprise! clothes! lol) and never restarted them. The only advice he has is to make sure the same thing doesn't happen to you.

It's not a giant room but you should be able to do a few loads in the mid-morning or late afternoon. :thumbsup2

We've stayed at the Polynesian many times in the past and always found the laundry facilities to be very good. Never a wait and everything in working condition.

We did quite a few loads of laundry during our stay last month. While our son relaxed in the room, dh and I walked over and ran the loads. It wasn't super busy -- we were able to just hang out and watch TV, and people came and went. The room is clean, bright and has lots of machines available.

HTH!! :)

We have used the laundry at poly several times. I have to say the room is nice and comfortable. However; we found it busy most times. The last 2 trips we set our clock for 3am and was empty. Actually worth it. In and out without a fuss. By time we where leaving people where starting to come in. (4am - 5am). Seems extreme but 2 yrs ago the room was filling up (we where already there) during an afternoon rain. A nasty fight between 2 different people fighting about machines & who was there first and entiled to the machine. I hate confirtation especially on vacation. (and we wheren't actually involved). So just prefer to get in and out without any hassels.

We have used the pay service there for special shirts or outfits, but for general wash > comes out pretty expensive. Unless, its a vacation treat.;) We once had a 1br at BW and loved the in room washer / dryer, was truely heaven.:cutie:

Thanks for all the replies! We are staying 8 nights so I figured half way through I might do laundry. It would be mostly kids clothes unless DH or I have something really stained. When it was just DH and I, we never did laundry on vacation never thought of it. But w/3 young kids who are always messy & get food stains all over their shirts I figured I better do laundry.

Thanks for all the ideas - I guess getting up super early or going to bed super late is the way to go.

My DH has volunteered as well. I will let him know to keep a close eye on our washers. Really how rude of them to open it up and then leave it open - one would think they'd close it so the wash could continue. Thanks for the tip :thumbsup2!

Some of my daughter's clothing was stolen at the Poly laundry room while I was waiting in the other room.:headache:

Typical laundry mat...nothing special here. Lint, dust, chemicals around washers, so you need to watch out if you are washing color clothes. Lots of guest "abandon" their clothes in washers and dryers so you will not be able to efficiently complete this task in a timely manner.

Geez - sorry to hear that! Hopefully it wasn't her favorite!

Wow. Hard to believe that people will pay that much per night for a hotel and then feel the need to steal someone else's clothes!

My car was scratched numerous times while in the parking lot at the Poly and that surprised me. I can assume that it was just an inconsiderate accident but taking your family's clothing can't be accidental!:sad2:

My DS and I walked to the Poly laundry room about 9:30am one morning when we were there last week. It was no problem at all.

It was busy when I used it during our September trip last fall. I had to wait a while for a washer at 10 PM. Mostly guests seem to leave their clothes in the washer and dryer long after it was done. yjay is awful that someone would steal someones clothes from the laundry room :sad2: .

I just did a search re: laundry at the resorts and found a whole thread on laundry etiquette - very interesting. I'm glad I found it as I've never been to a laundry mat - well once when I was 19 - too many years ago! Hopefully I won't have to go too late at night - I'm a chicken!:rotfl:

The best time to go is early in the morning. If you can pull yourself out of bed, this is a optimal time (6-7:30). All of the washers/dryers are empty. I can wash/dry all of our clothes in a lot less time. I don't have to worry about people leaving their clothing in the washers or dryers. It's stress free!

I went to the Contemporary laundry one morning at 6:00, and there was a man already there. I thought he looked familiar. When he turned around, I realized it was my cousin! I hadn't seen him in 6 years.:goodvibes

Remember to take your room key. You will need to swip it to get inside.

How funny you were both there at disney the same time & same resort! That must have been really neat and you had quiet time to visit - how nice! Thanks for the tip - I usually am awake by 5:30 anyway so thats probably when I'll go - thanks for the tip!

We will be staying for 9 nights in Dec.(our 1st stay at the Poly :cool1: ). Anyway is the laundromat open 24 hours? We like staying at the parks late & I was hoping I could maybe go when we return from the parks.

I read somewhere that the Poly was open 24 hrs. Someone also mentioned not to forget your room key as its needed to get in. Enjoy your trip - its our first stay at the Poly as well.

I try to do laundry every other day while I am there this way I only have to do 1-2 loads since the washers are small but for some reason the dryers are HUGE.

I think I only had to wait once for a washer but it wasn't a long wait & I just watched TV.

As soon as we come back from the park (mid-day) one of us takes the load over to the laundry room & then we swap turns going back & forth to check it/flip it.

So basically I have never had a problem other then the change machine not working & I had to take my stroller full of dirty laundry over to the GCH to get change.
