There's not much more to say..... This will be our first time ever going there....The reviews are so mixed, I guess all we can do is try it right?? It is our dinner on the first night. We dropped Narcoossees for it.

Not gonna lie, I didn't love it. BUT, I didn't hate it, and I am going to give it another try on our next trip. The atmosphere was fun for the kids, and even a lil romantic, I felt like I was away. Service was great. Some of the food was great, some meh. You'll have fun if you go in excited!

I have been to both. IMO Narcoossees is better. It has nothing to do with Lobster which is just ok .... Its the other food and the atmosphere that makes you feel special :thumbsup2

Here's my two cents. Ohana is absolutely not as good as it used to be. In my opinion, it's been one of the hardest hit casualties of the dining plan. That being said, I still love Ohana, and it is still a must do every trip. I've been there every year for the past 12 years and it would take a LOT to completely change my opinion of it. The food isn't what it used to be, but still very good. The service seems to have suffered more than the food has. I'd take Ohana over Narcoossee's any day.

I really liked 'Ohana.

I probably like it more than most as I like my meat on the dry side. That's where most people will complain. The meat is over cooked for many people.

I love Ohana, I miss the pineapple and caramel for dessert but DD and SIL love the bread pudding. We always get several pieces of a meat and if it's overcooked we just move it to the bones bowl and ask for more. We usually ask for meat from
the center of the skewer. We love the salad, wings (oh so good) turkey though I hear it's now chicken, and the steak. Last time we ate so much we weren't hungry til dinnertime the next day. Though we ate going during free dining we aren't doing free dining and this will be our only TS meal. Due to the 2 day ticket requirement it's the first time missing free dining. We have GAD to renew our APs later this year and don't need tickets laying around.

We all loved ohana and are going back this trip.

Fun for kids with the entertainment that is there.

Just remember it is family style - all food is meant to come at once not appetiser and entree.

I'm with the pp. A LOT of the complaints I hear about 'Ohana are people saying they felt rushed or that they brought too much food at once...'Ohana is a family style meal. They usually bring the bread and salad first, and everything else comes together, followed by dessert. I really think you should try it :)

we loved ohana breakfast but not dinner BUT. I have went to a few places that were highly reccomended ont he dis that I will never go back again. I have also went to some that had a lot of negative reply on the dis that we loved and go every trip. Each dining experience is unique as are peoples taste.

We loved Ohana!! In fact if we could have we would have booked more than one night eating there. We love the family style dining and enjoyed being able to eat as much or as little as we wanted. They were also great with sending out more food upon request. Every part was delicious and we cannot wait to go back!! In fact it is the one restaurant my husband talks about a year later!! We had a large party (15) and everyone feels the same that a disney trip just isn't complete with out a stop at Ohana.

I'm with you OP. Out of 18 ADRs, Ohana (and Boma) I'm worried about the most because of the mixed reviews. I haven't thought twice about canceling though because you don't know what you like until you try it. Hope you enjoy!

I didn't have a great experience there. The atmosphere was great but the food was average. I mostly found that the meat wasn't cooked as well as I would have liked. I am hoping I just went there on an off night and am definitely going to give it another chance.

Now I havent been to Narcossee will be there next month but not sure I would have dropped Narcossee for Ohana just b/c to me they are in two seperate catagories!

We love Ohanas, we love the food, the ambiance, the whole resort so its a must do each trip for us. My only problem here is how busy it gets b/c it is popular and that they can over cook the meats causing them to be dry, but I always request that server pls make sure our meats are not over cooked.

I do have both booked next month and really look fwd to both of them

I have not been and we have breakfast & dinner ressies.

Honestly, I'm not worried. As you said, there are so many mixed reviews. I decided to ignore all the reviews about it.

The place looks fantastic, it sounds very fun, and I like the food listed on the meu - so I'm going in expecting to have a great time! :goodvibes

We went to both Narcoosee's and Ohana during our trip in June. We really enjoyed both of them. They are truly different dining experiences. I don't think they can be compared to one another at all. Everyone in our party was pleased with the quality of food that we received at both places. I think you'll be happy at Ohana's! :thumbsup2

I wouldn't cancel anything because of reviews - you don't know the reviewer or what their expectations are, or what may have by chance happened to their food that day.

For instance, many complain that Ohana has gone down in quality over the years. I'm sure it has, but I never went in the past, so I'm coming in with a fresh perspective and don't have that lingering thought in the back of my mind. So, all things/foods being the same, I may like it more than the 20-year vet who remembers how much better it used to be.

Just something to think about... :goodvibes

Everyone has an opinion and reviews are helpful but to go so far as to be nervous about a dinner ressie, I'd relax and just just consider these facts:

There is a reason so many families make this a "must do" for every trip.

There is a reason that it's almost impossible to get an ADR for this place if you don't book close to the 180 day mark.

Everyone has different tastes and likes and dislikes.

The atmosphere is beautiful and the view amazing. Smile, relax, get off your feet and enjoy your meal. It may or may not be perfect but it will be a Disney experience and I bet you will be just fine.

I agree with you! I went for the first time to Ohana last year and it was GREAT! Those noodles were so good and matched the other food and the 'theme' of the restaurant but every Ohana vet said they like the potatoes better. Well, I never tried the potatoes and that actually sounds bizarre for the type of food they serve so it doesn't bother me any - the noodles were great!

And OP - think about the type of restaurant you want. If you want a lively atmosphere, family style meal, and that Polynesian feel - Ohana is great!

Thank you for the feedback everyone! We will keep it. It;s our kick off meal to our honeymoon, and it is the one place we have NEVER Tried but always wanted to. If we don't love it, so what?? We have 12 other dinners to look forward to. HOpefully, we will be pleasantly surprised!! :thumbsup2

yay! i'm glad you're keeping it. out of ALLL that food, you will surely find something you like. they make a big deal about families and LOVE, so tell them you're newlyweds. it's a great atmosphere and we also enjoyed the food (and lapu lapu).
