Nervous about joining

My wife and I are seriously thinking of buying into the vacation club we have so many questions i don't even know where to start so I thought I would ask for some opinions and tips from everyone past and present owners P.S. how do you get the ticker to work??

We were nervous as well...still are to some degree. We hope that we don't get WDW burnout to soon. Its a big chunk of money but if you have young kids they will remember these trips forever. Its watching there smiles that make it all worth while. Not to mention I love Disney as much as they do. The DW.....give her a beach chair and the ocean and she's set.

Read as much as you can here on the DIS. The veterans are a great source of info and guided me through our buying process. You will find tid bits of info here that your Disney guide will never tell you.....DVC is a great way to vacation.....

Actually that's incorrect. He copied the HTML code, and you can't just add an IMAGE code in front and behind the HTML code.

Also, while the leading IMAGE tag is [IMG], the trailing tag is different, having a '/' in front of the IMG, in the form . If anyone puts a leading tag at the end, instead of the correct end tag, then it won't work.

While it's possible to edit the code and remove all the HTML relevant characters, and then add the vB characters and keep the part in the middle, if someone doesn't know exactly what part to erase and what part to keep, it won't work.

In the OP's case, it's best to go back and just create a new ticker, and this time copy and paste the bb (bulleting board) code, and not the HTML code.

You are right to be nervous about buying into DVC...it is a major purchase and should not be entered into without doing appropriate research. I read these boards for almost a year before purchasing...you are in the right place and in GREAT hands. We joined in 2004 and were also nervous. In 2003, we took the DVC tour while visiting. We are also big beach go'ers. We had considered purchasing a pull behind RV to take to the beach, we thought the kids would really enjoy this (and I'm sure they would have).

Anyway, after looking into both we figured that a middle of the road nice RV was going to cost $25,000 or so, then it was going to cost $350. per week for campsite rental.

180 pts @ SSR cost around $17-18,000. (can't remember for sure) and then dues $500-600.

We figured that we would probably only get about 7-10 years out of an RV where as DVC we would get 50 years.

We are so glad we chose DVC, we are thinking about adding on points in the next couple of years. The only thing I hate is that we didn't do it earlier.
