Ok, I live in SE MN. Only two airlines to choose from here. AA and NW. We usually fly NW because, can you believe it, they are cheaper than AA!!!

What's the latest on the NW talks? Haven't been keeping up the news.

We are planning a late May trip flying into Orlando and out of Sarasota.

hercamore, if you are looking to fly out of MSP check our air trans airlines (www.airtrans.com). I don't know if they fly into or near the other city you wanted, but they do Orlando from MSP. We just booked emergency backup tickets on air trans for spring break because we just aren't feeling comfortable that our NW frequent flyer tickets are going to get us there. All things considered the price wasn't that bad, although a lot of other Minnesotans must have been thinking the same thing because it was just insane trying to book on airtrans last night, the stuff became unavailable on internet sites faster than you could get in your credit card info to finish the transaction. So we got a good price but not our choice of travel times, whereas if we had booked a week ago we would have had both. Today prices are even higher. I would love news as well, but don't have any. In Detroit, another major hub, they have within the past 24-48 hours begun to advise that people not plan new travel on NW, so I would wait it out if I were you before doing new NW bookings.
