My DD was watching ABC FAMILY the other day. There was a show. forget the name, w/ Suzanne Sommers and Patrick Duffy (Dallas) as a married couple ala Brady Bunch-previous marriages and kids.
Anyway on the show it looked like they were in WDW-
One of the daughters was singing at the NEON ARMADILLO on Pleasure Island.
Does anyone remember this place?

I admit, I never really went to PI in its early days, so I don't remeber this place. Anyone?

It was a country saloon type bar. The CM's wore boots and cowboy hats. I used to bo to PI back in the early 20's. Them were good times! They used to have a roller skating rink too! Now I believe it's a 70's disco. My favorite haunts were Manaquins. Revolving dancefloor....oh la laa!

Yes I do! I was too little to go in, but I always remember seeing it in the promo video during the PI spot. And in Step By Step as well. ;)

yep, we went in there for a few minutes to check out the place when we were on our honeymoon at wdw, in june, 1992. it was a c&w bar, and we stayed for about 10 mins and watched the line dancing. seemed like a fun place.

My sister and I made my parents suffer through several visits the the Neon Armadillo;) They were more the Adventurer's Club type! This would have been in the early 90's. It was a country line dancing type of place with live music. We thought it was fun:thumbsup2

I absolutely remember the Neon Armadillo! In fact, we had lunch there - kids were allowed in during the day - when I was little. I remember them serving bar-b-que type options to go with the theming.

As as side note, I think that PI is severly lacking in the country music department and would see a lot of people visit a country bar/club that played the more "rock n roll" style country songs of today! Well, at least I would be there :thumbsup2

I think that's the place I remember from my first trip in the late 90s when 18yos could go dancing at the PI clubs. I know there was a country bar of some sort there where we had a great time, and I really miss it. I was so disappointed with PI on our last trip, because there wasn't any place that really appealed to DH & I, and we don't plan to go back again with the current selection of clubs. I wish they'd bring back some sort of country dance club, for those of us who just aren't into techno or pop (of any decade!).

Yep! I remember it too. It was my mom's favorite place when we went in 1993.

This was the first and last place I lined danced. Very Urban Cowboyish.
I remember liking it even though it was not my kind of music!

Neon Armadillo was where the BET club is now. They sold Jello shooters; it was on two levels; they offered dance lessons a couple of nights a week...

Gosh that brings back memories. And how about that Adventurers Club, is it still there?

DH and I only went to PI one time, now we are just to exhausted to make it there!!!

I remember back when I went to PI when I was a kid, when they had the midnight fireworks & when they actually had merch with PI logos on them(I still wear the old 1993 PI shirt to this day). I remember walking in Neon Armadillo once & walking out a few minutes later, obviously not my Mom's style. Yes the Adventurer's Club is still there & it is a definate stop on my first night at the World. As is Comedy Warehouse but I will always love that place. I recall a thread a while back about what new attractions we would like to see & it reminds me that a Who's Line themed improv attraction at the Studios would do great. PI has changed a ton since then & its not as special as it once was but you can't beat CW or AC for bringing back the memories of the good old days of PI.

I remember that. Sawdust on the floor, country music playing, line dancing.
Thats when they had people pushing vending carts up and down the street of PI selling shots.

I really liked this place - It was alot of fun - played country music - had the line dance thing workin. It was very popular in the late 80's early 90's. Its only flaw was that the dance floor was too small. I have video of this at home that now I will have to dig out. It was replaced by BET. It was also replaced by the now defunct Wild Horse Saloon. Now that was a fun place too when it was country!

The best part of the Neon were the barstools that would rise up and down while you sat on them in the bar.:thumbsup2

I remember it too! I went there with my parents and other family back in the early 90's. I love country music, so I was disappointed when I heard that it was gone.

I remember the place, though not sure I ever went in it. I may have just walked in to check the place out, but did not stay.

I loved the Neon Armadillo - it was absolutely a blast to go there - it was always packed when country line dancing and clogging was big. Sometimes it was standing room only. Haven't really found a club in PI now to enjoy - usually just breeze through, hit the shops & end up at the West End.

Yeah, I was there in the early 90's. I think the patch shown below was probably sold as a souvenir, but it may have been part of a cast member wardrobe.

It measures approx 3 by 4 inches.
