How loud is the ride? A friend of mine went and said it was really loud inside. We are going in March and if its that loud I dont want to take my (will be 6 months by then) baby on it. What are your suggestions?

I didn't notice it was really loud but if you are concerned you could go to the observation lab instead. It's the room for those who don't want to, or can't, go down the sub stairs. It's actually a really nice way to see the Nemo stuff. We didn't even ride the actual subs until just recently. To get to the special room, go to the exit and tell the CM you want to use the observation room. They'll direct you where to wait (if there is a wait) and once the room is available you'll be taken in. The room is large enough for a large family. There is room for wheelchairs and/or strollers. There are also 2 benches. You'll see a movie of the same thing you would see if going on the ride. Including the bubbles that let you know you submerged. Also another good thing is the room is air conditioned, while the subs aren't. You don't want to ride the subs on a hot, summer day!

This room isn't known about by many so kept it on a need to know basis! Shhhhh!

Well yes, they are loud but I wouldn't avoid the ride due to noise. It's very cute and fun. If you don't think you'll like it head to the front of the line, ask the CM where the disabled viewing room is because you don't want to take the baby on the ride and there you go. Less wait and maybe less noise and if she doesn't like it you can leave.

Well they arnt too quite, but they are not bad at all. Actually if anything it makes the ride even more realistic. I betcha if you were in a real sub you would hear the engine from time to time as well.

I don't remember the Nemo subs being too overly loud, but some of the dark rides in Fantasyland can be VERY loud.

We still took our "then" baby on the Fantasyland rides, and they didn't seem to bother him, but I admit, on a few occasions I did cover his ears with my hands.

The subs are loud. And there is an explosion type thing at one point which I think will scare my son. We went on it a month ago and I still remember thinking that it was quite loud at times. Having said that it is only at certain times and it is still a neat ride. Especially if you have nemo fans like I do. There is a viewing room you could experience the "ride" in instead and if it gets too loud you could just leave? Also about the A/C...I dont know if they are or not, they didn't use to be, but they stay pretty cool. Enjoy your trip!

I was told by a CM that when they rehabbed the subs they didn't add A/C. The original subs didn't have air. He told us to avoid hot days, late in the afternoon as some of the guest can get smelly. There is air that blows in the portholes so if you stick your face right up in the porthole you will feel the air movement. But it's not conditioned. So while they interior of the subs doesn't really get hot, just be aware that late in the summer afternoons, it may not smell the best. If that happens, just stick your face up against the glass.

Ya the subs are quite noisy, but no worse then the dark rides. You can go to an observation area like others said and if you find that you can handle it, then give it a try.

I don't remember it being loud in '07 when we first went on them, but this last trip it was horribly loud. It ruined DS's experience, he HATED it. And it was our FIRST ride of the trip, and for a few hours he was having a hard time with things. Early morning after long travel and delaying proper breakfast plus loud ride = upset kiddo.

Actually the sound was bothering us on a few rides this last trip. I finally gave DS my earplugs, and that made him much happier with things. We'll be getting him his own kid-sized earplugs for future trips.

Oh and the worst thing about the noisy ride? I still couldn't understand what they were saying. It's like this yelling sub-captain saying things, but I hadn't a clue what he was saying. NOt a good combo.


With a bitty baby, well with me baby would be in a sling, so one ear would be against my chest and the other ear could be covered with a hand, so I wouldn't be worried about that.

I wouldn't worry about the noise level and a 6 month old. It wasn't as loud as the music they had going at the tomorrowland stage while we waited in line.

One thing to think about, it is dark. The CM when we rode told us that earlier in the day they had a baby on the sub. When it went dark, the baby freaked out thinking that the parents were trying to get it to sleep, and the poor thing screamed and fought the whole time! So you may want to take the personality ane expectations of your LO into mind.
