Nemo Submarine Lagoon Refilling!

I just saw a post on Facebook from someone riding the Monorail a couple of hours ago who said the Nemo Submarine Lagoon is currently being filled with water! Finally!!!

How exciting! We were there last week and saw it empty. It was pretty cool but I was hoping it would be up and running again in June.

We will be there in five weeks and I was so hoping it would be open by then! The lagoon really lends such an amazing ambience to that corner of the park! Plus, I love hearing the seagulls squawking, “Mine? Mine!” as I walk by.

I just read that Disneyland needed permission from the City of Anaheim to refill the lagoon because it takes 9 million gallons of water. It apparently took about a week to drain! I’ve also read in the past that Disneyland uses a special reservoir system when they drain and refill big bodies of water.

Edited to add that I found this: “When they are drained for maintenance, including the Rivers of America, that water is sent to the Orange County Water District to be recycled through its groundwater replenishment system.” -OC Register
