I just saw a post on Facebook from someone riding the Monorail a couple of hours ago who said the Nemo Submarine Lagoon is currently being filled with water! Finally!!!
We will be there in five weeks and I was so hoping it would be open by then! The lagoon really lends such an amazing ambience to that corner of the park! Plus, I love hearing the seagulls squawking, āMine? Mine!ā as I walk by.
I just read that Disneyland needed permission from the City of Anaheim to refill the lagoon because it takes 9 million gallons of water. It apparently took about a week to drain! Iāve also read in the past that Disneyland uses a special reservoir system when they drain and refill big bodies of water.
Edited to add that I found this: āWhen they are drained for maintenance, including the Rivers of America, that water is sent to the Orange County Water District to be recycled through its groundwater replenishment system.ā -OC Register
