Does anyone know if you can take an infant on Nemo or is navigating the entry to the ride too difficult while holding a baby?

I saw a mother and her newborn walk carefully down the spiral staircase...she seemed to do it with such ease and care, she made it look so easy. When I went down with my 1 year old, it felt more challenging because he was much bigger to carry down the steps, but was too little to walk safely down the stairs. Only one person fits at a time, so holding hands didn't work for me.

I'm curious to know how others did it with with their little ones too?

Oh no! I have a 21 month old and I won't be able to carry her? Could my husband go first then I hand her to him?

It is a spiral staircase (around 15 steps) that goes from loading to ride area.... Its kinda steep but there are rails on both sides as you walk in... i dont think you can hand a baby from top to bottom... its kinda a long distance unless you lay on the sub.

I took my 3 month old on in a Baby Bjorn(infant carrier) - it worked great. It was helpful though to have my hands free.

They also let us keep our strollers in the line until the very end, which was nice.

Wow, this seems like rather poor planning on Disney's part. Even if it's safe, it sounds like it might add a small bit of stress on parents trying to make their way down with their little ones. I wonder if they'll change it once they see parents having a hard time.

Well I think they just re-used the tried and true subs from decades ago, so I doubt there's much they can do to change the way you get down into a submarine...

If DS were wee still, or if I had another baby, baby would be in a cloth carrier like the mei tai in my avatar, and it would be barely different than being largely pregnant and trying to navigate stairs. :) I was on Amtrak at 7+ months and my knee joints were blown by then, and trying to get down the stairs to the showers, and upstairs to the dining/lounge cars was interesting to say the least (spiraling, narrow stairs and I couldn't see my feet). But it can be done!

I'd use a carrier, personally, just like bumbershoot mentioned. I carried a fast asleep 2 1/2 year old and DH carried a fast asleep 4 year old (can you say dead weight??!!) down the staircase no problem- just go slowly and take your time- if people behind you are in such a hurry- too bad!

Yes, it can be done, we did it! I think going back up is much much easier too, so once you've made it to the bottom of the sub, you should be good...
I would definitely do the softbabycarrier thing with an infant with hands on railing at all times... I figured it out, I think....for the little ones that need to do the stairs, maybe one of the parents can go down first in front while another parent is right behind...
I don't think these stairs are nearly as dangerous as those ones at Universal Studios trying to get to the other section while holding your strollers! (if youve been there, you'd know exactly)...
