Disney's Animal Kingdom Guests Will Find 'Nemo' in Dazzling Musical Spectacular

The undersea world that charmed audiences around the world in the Disney presentation of the Pixar Animation Studios film "Finding Nemo" will come to life in an all-new musical stage show debuting at Disney's Animal Kingdom in late 2006.

Featuring original songs by Tony Award-winning "Avenue Q" composer Robert Lopez and a cappella musical "Along the Way" composer Kristen Anderson-Lopez, "Finding Nemo--The Musical" will immerse guests of all ages in the story of Marlin and Nemo, an overprotective clownfish father and his curious son, through a dazzling production that combines puppets, dancers, acrobats and animated backdrops.

Produced by Disney Creative Entertainment, the 30-minute show represents the first time Disney has taken a non-musical animated feature and transformed it into an original musical production.

The theme park's newly enclosed Theater in the Wild will become a magical undersea environment through innovative lighting, sound, special effects and the theatrical puppetry of Michael Curry, who designed the richly detailed character puppets seen in the Broadway version of Disney's "The Lion King."

Principal characters such as Marlin, Nemo and Dory will be represented by live performers operating larger-than-life puppets. Peripheral characters will be realized by a diverse array of puppetry styles, including rod, bunraku and shadow.

"Finding Nemo--The Musical" will be staged several times daily.

This is the first time I've seen the whole press release. It sounds like it is going to be GREAT!

This is the best they could come up with? Give me Tarzan Rocks back!

In all honesty, I'll wait til I can see this to pass final judgement, but this doesn't sound like something I'd see more than once.

We saw it yesterday (12/20/06) first showing. It is one of the BEST live musical shows at Disney! You will love it!

Loved it...saw in 12/8, and was completely thrilled. I can't wait to get back and see it again next month. It was very similar to the Broadway production of 'The Lion King'....great perfomances and terrific staging.

We saw it last week. A woman comming out of the first show said it was the best thing she has ever seen at Disney. We weren't thrilled by it. It was ok and the acting was good. But not my cup of tea.

I'm not a huge Nemo fan, so I thought I wouldn't enjoy it that much. Boy, was I wrong. This may even be better then Festival of the Lion King, and that's saying a lot.

We saw it last week and thought it was fantastic. I felt like I was at a Broadway show. One of my favorite things this trip.

We saw it last week and hated it! It was so long and just too weird watching an actor holding a fish up. I wasn't a huge fan of the movie either but the benches were so uncomfortable and it was just boring. DH fell asleep during it!

WOW, what ever happened to, "If you can't say anything nice........"

Different strokes for different folks, I still say it one of the best Disney shows to date.

For those of you who have seen the broadway production (or traveling production) of "The Lion King" and liked it, you will find this show to be very similar. Yes, there are people holding up their characters on 'sticks'...but it is not distracting. When that particular character has a big solo number to do, someone else steps forward and takes their 'character stick' and stands behind/beside them while they perform the solo piece.
It really is an icredible show.....I know that the people I was with were not expecting to really enjoy it but it turns out they thought it was wonderful!

I wouldn't go out of my way to see it again.

On the other hand, I loved the Tarzan show and would have done whatever it took to arrange my schedule to see it.

The Nemo show we attended stopped short right at the end due to technical problems. Don't know if we missed anything great at that point that would have changed my opinion.

I did like how colorful the show was.

I saw FINDING NEMO: THE MUSICAL at 10:00 am on Friday, December 1. It is a great show, and I left the theater wondering how long it would be before the show (with some additional musical numbers), opens on Broadway. It is outstanding.

It was easily the highlight of my WDW visit this holiday season.

Don't miss it.

I absolutely LOVE the Nemo show. It is amazing, the music is good, and the whole thing is just wonderful. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

We just returned and all LOVED the musical nemo!! It thought it was right up there with Festival of the Lion King! AWESOME and a must see in my opinion.
