Nemo at CBR

I liked the curtains and bedspread, but don't necessarily beleive the makeover. I can't see Disney mixing Nemo and Pirates in the same resort. Besides CBR is the Caribean, not Austrilia where Nemo took place

Looks like merchandising is already on top of the renovation:

(actually, this was a May, 2007 release)

I must be in the minority but I don't like it. One thing I've always liked about the moderates and deluxes is that if there was a WDW character tied into the theming it was very subtle, like the Simba carvings at the AKL or the character totem pole at WL. In my opinion this could take away from the overall carrinbbean feeling of the resort.

I'd like to see/hear some info on this from a different source.

I totally agree. We are staying at CBR in September, and if I wanted a character themed resort experience, I would have booked a value resort. I like the fact that CBR had a relaxing feel to it, and it felt like a separate vacation from the parks.

Also, if there is no fridge available at check-in, I may ask to be moved to a different resort. I'm sorry but having a refridgerator is one of the advertised amenities of a moderate resort. It is kind of a deal-breaker for me.

I don't like it either. What a strange combo of themes.......pirates, which of course can be associated with the caribbean......but in conjunction with cutesy Nemo and pals, who come from the Great Barrier Reef/Australia?:confused3

Now if they want to stick with the pirate theme (like their new pool makeover), and bring a little Pirates of the Caribbean into the rooms, then great. But Nemo is just.....WEIRD!

Hey, maybe they'll bring a little Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom into CSR?

If my 8 year old finds out they have a Pirates room at CBR then we'll have to stay there! :rotfl: That sounds really cool - I would love to see photos of that!

The new Nemo theme isn't too bad - I was afraid that they would have all dark colors and small patterns in the rooms like at some of the other resorts. I don't even notice borders, so that won't bother me too much. Too bad about the beds and fridges though... :sad1: I should have booked a trip there before they changed all of those nice colors and the great looking bedframes!

There are some simiilar posts over on the CBR thread. I too take what Jim Hill says with a grain of salt. I am waiting to see if anybody has actually called Disney Travel to see what they say. If I have time this afternoon (and the boss stays busy with clients) I may just given them a call myself. Will post what the tell me.

What a shocker. How does one person get pics of new rehab rooms at CBR when no official word has been announced or leaked to the major Dis sites?

Personally, loving the CBR, I hope they leave it be. I like Nemo but do not need him in CBR.

I do however, love the pool design. Seems more in keeping with the carribean theme.

If this is true, then it's plain awful. CBR is known to be a tropical vacation within a vacation...Nemo on the wall and bedspread is just not a tropical Caribbean Theme.

We've been staying at CBR since it opened - off and on as we enjoy other resorts too, but CBR has always been a favorite and this is disappointing.

If we want over the top icons, we'll book a value, not CBR. :sad2:

Was so looking forward the refurb ...not so much now..but will wait and see...when a DISer comes back with a review and photos, then we'll really know.

I really, really hope the removal of fridges is wrong. We're staying there in October and if I don't have a fridge I will be extremely disappointed. I will say that if they do take the fridges out, it will be very hard to convince me to stay at CBR again. I like being able to come back to the room and have cold water and sodas without schleping to the ice machine.

The bedding is OK. Not too happy about it, but the bright colors make it tolerable. I HATE the border. I feel like it belongs in a daycare or Dr's office - not a hotel room. The curtains I like. The blue color is nice.

I'm also interested in hearing about the family suites with the POTC theme.

This question got me thinking.

Is there anything in those photos that establishes that they were taken in a CBR room? The headboard of the bed doesn't match the current furniture, if the furniture is new then why not show it? The furniture that the TV is on doesn't match the current furniture either does it? So why not show it in its enitirety? The drape set up is similar to a corner room, but they are drawn so you can't see the view out the window.

Why not show a view of the whole room?

I will also watching this new development very closely. We stayed at CBR in June 2007. We all loved it. Our next trip is in June 2009. CBR is on top of the list again because of the pool's renovation. We loved CBR's theme.

Only thing I can see that could make the impression the pics (or at least that one) COULD be taken at CBR is the one where the carpet is showing. On the other hand; if doing a referb with this theme and at such a large scale, why wouldn't they change the carpet? I mean, after that many years it could do with a referb esp. if they want it to last for another couple of years to come.

I'm like some others awaiting official wording or at least pics of Safetymom. Seeing a pic from her is believing. If it would be the case, I would be seriously bummed out. I mean, take out the fridge? Somehow I doubt Dsney would be that stupid, but still.

Um, just to be clear, I was not the one who said "Somehow I doubt Dsney would be that stupid, but still."

I do see the palm frond carpet in the bedspread pic now, so yes I guess that is consistent with the current decor. (I had to copy it to my PC and blow it up to make it out.) I agree, new carpet would make sense as part of any hotel room refurb. It takes a lot of wear and tear.

Still waiting for some sort of official confirmation before I get too excited one way or the other about this....

I noticed the carpet also. But why not show the whole room where you can see the double sink area and all the furniture?
