Why is some people seem to think that the whole block wants to listen to their music? The lady across the street has friends over working in her yard. The house is open and the stereo is going full blast! We left at noon to run errands and two hours later it was still going! DH walked over and told them to turn it down. It was so loud that I could not open the house to let it air out. Thursday night she had a party and at ten the music was blaring. This is a quiet street. Why is that people just can't show consideration of others? When the nephew lived with us, the number one rule was no loud music to disturb the neighbors.

Oh come one...you love gangsta' rap!!

Doesn't everyone???

Minus the party, that could be me as your neighbor
I play mt music loud in the summer.
I guess I better be more considerate :teeth:

We have neighbors like this. We made friends with them and now if we ask them to turn it down they have no problem doing it.

we had a neighbor like that - weird thing was he would blast hawaiin ukele music out of his window - it seemed "somewhere over the rainbow" was his fave - and no he wasn't hawaiin. This is the same guy that would literally stand in the middle of the street and do his karate exercises for hours at a time.

that happens once in a great while in our neighborhood in the summer. we usually take it with a grain of salt since it isn't all the time. DD25 deals with that often in her apartment complex. She works 2nd shift and needs to sleep in but often her neighbors blare music 8 or 9 in the morning.

I hate that too, and now I have a teenager who does it.

How hard is it for him to realize that if his music goes above a certain level, someone's going to yell at him to turn it down? Even our dog is better trained than that! She knows not to get on the couch when we're home. :rotfl2:

My neighbor hooked up his electric guitar to his backyard speaker system. He was drunk. It was 11pm. This did not go over well. :teeth:

We have 5 acres and he has 5 acres, so you can imagine how loud the guitar was for us to actually hear it, in the house, with the windows closed.

DH and I thought we heard something strange. So, we opened a window and heard a guitar. We go outside and start to follow it. There we found my neighbor, drunk, playing his guitar. He invited us to have a few drinks, so we did. The next day, he came over and apologized. It never happened again, but he says if it does to just come on over for some drinks.

I bought the 5 acres to avoid this type of stuff. My big problem now is the neighbor on the other side - Bob. Bob The Builder. I hate, hate, hate him. Pretty soon, I'm going to go over there, find out what he's building, and finish the job so he can stop the daily hammering that has been going on for, oh, about a YEAR now. :guilty:

Ah, neighbors. Gotta love 'em! :thumbsup2

If it wasn't all the time then it is easy to just let things like that go. We used to have a group of young guys who lived in my cul-du-sac. For the most part they were well behaved. A few times a year though they would throw crazy parties with loug music going all day/all night. Since it was rare I let it go. When July 4th rolled around I wasn't so nice though. They were letting off fireworks way before and long after. I made quite a few calls about them during that time.

And I agree....who doesn't like gangsta rap? :confused3 Im an O G from the OC. You all betta recognize!

I hate that too - fortunately it doesn't happen often in my neighborhood. Occasionally while someone is washing a car or something doesn't bother me.

When I really hate it is CAMPING! I didn't drive out into the woods and set up a tent to listen to someone else's boom box!

Ugh! That drives me insane.

10 AM to 10 PM, play it as loud as you want. 10 PM to 10 AM, I better be able to hear a pin drop.

I play my music outside when I am out working in the yard or in the pool...as long as it is after 8am and before 11 pm(12 on the weekends) then it is perfectly legal for me to do so...though I would personally never put music on outside until 11am and it is off before 8pm even if I am still outside.

I live in a 2 family house and deal with this almost daily. Worst part for me is my neighbor have the attic and its above my bedroom. My whole room shakes. Than the will go in the basement to work out and my whole livingroom shakes...

I feel about the same...within limits. I don't want my windows shaking from the neighbors music, but if I can hear it in the distance, I'm not going to complain.

I could be your neighbor except for the party. I play my music full blast so I can actually understand the lyrics. I do use headphones after 9 or 10pm and before 8am. Noise laws here are after 11pm and before 7am.

I feel for you. We are still dealing with our neighbors in the back of us and their 4 windchimes they have hanging in their backyard. One set is in a tree closest to our house. We've asked them twice - NICELY - they seem to understand and agree but the windchimes are still there! UGH!!!!!!

Yikes, some of those noise ordinances are very liberal! I'd hate living in an area like that. Around here it's 8-10, but our town basically says after dark at night. Barking dog laws are even stricter -- from 9 to 9.

Our neighbors have 2 teenage boys...who are in a band!! Dad plays also!! The mom made the rules....practice is over at 5pm when most people come home from work. PERIOD!! It works for us....we've only heard them once or twice in 6 yrs. Actually, they are pretty good, so i'm not complaining!
We also had some neighbors across the street....the teenage boys friends had dropped him off from school and they had the music in the car BLARING!!! I was in the garage and when he (the neighbor) saw me he made the driver turn it down right away.....then a little later he came over and apologized.

You are so lucky. They seem like wonderful teenagers to have as neighbors.
