Roads were really hazardous this AM. Everything was covered with a sleet of ice including my driveway.
This morning my neighbour (cdn spelling)said she hit the brakes as soon as she got into my driveway but still hit the garage door. My driveway is almost 100ft, so I know she was going too fast (as usual) and 1/2 hr. before I drove onto my driveway without a single bit of skidding.
There were a few lucky breaks though. She and her dd were not hurt. My car was not parked outside. And even though she hit the side of the garage where my car was parked, she did not crash through. could have been disasterous if she went right through, hit my car, then pushed my car through part of the house wall. Also, she missed the brick dividing the 2 garages.
The repair is still going to cost them $300. My neighbour and her husband are just the nicest couple and I felt kind of sorry for her. She is so nice; there was no question of her taking care of the entire repair as soon as possible. She immediately went home and called companies to survey the damage to get quotes. I wouldn't doubt if my door is repaired by the weekend.
I have to add something that's almost too funny. An hour later another one of our neighbours(neighbour #2) went to visit my friend (neighbour #1)and this other neighbour hit her Ford Escape into my friends old truck parked in the driveway. Major damage to the new Ford Escape, none to the old truck. Neighbour #2 had crashed right through her garage door a few months before.
