Negativity and attendance?

So I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but what is the constant negativity on other WDW boards? Disney isn't adding new rides and Universal this and Universal that?! People can be so negative. Do they have nothing better to do than bash Disney all day?

Also, they say Disney has had some significant attendance drop, based on the wait times I've seen, it still has a good number of people there to me?

I guess I will stop going to those threads then, because I don't want my happy place ruined. Will stick with the DIS!

Are you claiming that the disboards threads don't have negativity?

You should read more threads here. Try starting with one that has "fastpass plus" in the title.

Oh, people just like to complain on the Internet. There are always going to be those who are less than satisfied, and they are more likely to rant about it than the people who have a great time are. I don't see the big fuss as i have been recently and think everything is in great shape for the most part. Are there a few weak spots? Sure, but they'll get to them eventually. They can't do everything! Just relax and enjoy is my philosophy.

People like to complain to hear themselves talk. Whoever says Disney's attendance is falling must be crazy. I go there four times a year and it is always crowded it seems to me more people are going to Disney. I always see a lot of people wearing their first visit pins. People who are complaining must be the ones who went to the dark side and are Universal people. (Just kidding)

You beat me to it :-)

OP, your post is either very timely or very untimely, depending how you look at it ;)

I think people just like to vent and use the forums as a place to do so. Some people are also just that type of person as well.

I also think that some people have very high expectations of Disney because it is one of the better (and most expensive) theme parks around. So they like to get nit picky.

I just pass right over those negative threads here and on other boards. I don't have the space for that in my life.

Although, I do wish ppl here would learn to use the search function, or look for a thread before creating a new one. The multiple threads about FP+, Refillable mugs, and the Magic bands are getting a bit annoying really.

Wait....did I just vent.:rotfl:

There are a lot of people who wish WDW would add more rides, big, elaborate rides like Universal is adding. Instead of spending a bunch of money on information infrastructure and crowd control. They are also doing a lot of cleaning and refurbishing existing attractions, restaurants and other areas instead of adding new ones. Not that some things don't really need refurbishing.

If you're good with what WDW has, then you're not going to complain about it, but if you really wish they'd hurry up and put in more (one of the complaints I see a lot of now is "why is it taking so long to finish the mine train when Universal can finish Transformers in a few months?") you might complain.

Apparently two huge things are on the way: Avatar and Star Wars. There are still going to be plenty of posters who will say 1) That's not good enough, and 2) It's taking too long.

Yeah, I know, fastpass plus, but I mean in general actually, just about everything Disney.

I'm actually confused about the last post! What does that mean??

I mean 2 tiggies post

I think she was referring to all the FP+ threads which have a LOT of negativity back & forth type of disagreements.

Personally, I think Disney's attendance has been high enough to question whether there IS an "off" season anymore - even "slower" times seem busier in recent years than years past.

I was there this past weekend. The World Showcase was blissfully uncrowded. There were sizeable lines for the attractions at Future World. Magic Kingdom was a zoo.

Yes, I was and OP, it wasn't a jibe in any way. I wasn't sure if you'd been keeping abreast of all the hot topics on here or if you'd been away for a while and popped on to post your question :goodvibes Apologies for any confusion caused.

Disney hasn't built a new E ticket ride since Expedition Everest. Magic Kingdom hasn't received in E ticket in 20 years (last was Splash). Since Everest opened Universal has added or began construction on 5 of them. I love Disney but that is worth complaining about.

Disney has also continued to make cutbacks including big decreases in extra magic hours. Also worth complaining about.

There will always be people who, for instance, prefer the big thrill rides. They should go to Universal and get over it. Just kidding. Disney unfortunately can't appeal to 100% of all people of all ages. Just can't do it. We've been Disney "lovers" since 1982 which was our first trip and it was a small small world then.
;)
However, we also lived in central FL and had annual passes and went as often as we liked. I can tell you that unless attendance dropped off tremendously in the past 11 months since we moved, it hadn't dropped off before that.
Disney constantly comes up with new incentives, specials, etc. to get people to go during the less crowded times. We got very good at avoiding crowds. There are little things that aren't as nice/neat/cool as they used to be. But I'd take it over any theme park in the U.S.
There are new things that really don't interest me -- fastpass plus, the big hullaballoo over RFID, magic bands, etc. I don't know nor did I ever want to complicate a simply wonderful trip to Disney. Keep it simple, please. At least for me.
:cheer2:

one of the complaints I see a lot of now is "why is it taking so long to finish the mine train when Universal can finish Transformers in a few months?"

Seriously, are people asking this? One is basically a sound stage with a conveyor belt and big movie screens, the other is a Mountain! Also, TF has already been built elsewhere, its plug and play.

Greatness takes patience, my friends.

I agree. I feel like the times we typically go used to be considered "off season" and there for not as busy. But now we go the same times and are amazed at how crowded the parks seem.

Im also seeing a lot more foreign visitors than every before (especially like Brazilians). So maybe they have different school break times than the US?

2 tiggies, I understand :) just was confused, never thought it was a jab at me.

I just think that it can ruin the experience for people the way that some boards talk about it. You would think by the way some people talk that WDW was the worst place ever.

On another note though, I am not too excited for FP+, so I kind of understand the gripes with that. We should wait until it completely rolls out to judge it I think. Thanks for all of your responses and opinions!

I don't want to bash anyone's faves, but, with the exception of the whole Harry Potter thing (I admit it: I'm a fan), nothing in Universal appeals to me. It just seems like a bigger version of Six Flags (which I hate), with none of that Disney magic feeling.

Maybe it's because, through a combination of motion sickness and wimpyness, I don't ride any 'big' rides (BTMRR is as crazy as I get), I can't appreciate all the high-velocity stuff? I'll take the overall ambiance any day.
