As I'm posting this thread, I am currently boarded on the Disney Magic and I am "in" the Internet Cafe. The Internet Cafe is more of a "cubby-hole" inside the Promenade Lounge in the corner. If you plan on buying an internet package for the entire cruise ($89.99 or $.75/min) , be sure you don't visit it during any activity inside the Promenade Lounge. The only concealment between the two "rooms" is a 4 foot wall. There is a speaker located right above the Internet Cafe and, if you're there during an activity, it is VERY loud. As of this moment, they are teaching Ballroom-Dancing while playing music, and the announcer is trying to talk over the music, which is EXTREMELY obnoxious and VERY hard to hear anything over  . Even with headphones on I still cannot focus. Last night's activity was a "build your own car out of vegetables and race it" and there was an announcer to pilot the race, so you can imagine how that must have been for us I-Net freaks. Out of all of the things on this cruise so far, this has to be the only thing I have disliked.

Lee, have you gone to the Cove Cafe (adult only coffee bar on deck 9)?? I heard there were PC terminals there, do the Internet Cafe accounts work in the Cove Cafe?? That's got to be tons queiter than the Promenade Lounge!!

Too bad there's nothing else to do on board than sit an a computer.....

Sorry to hear that your having a hard time with the internet cafe.
However, I noticed that you were on the Magic, even as I type!
I'm getting on the Magic on Sat. and have a question, that I'm hoping you can answer.
Here goes...................
About how tall is the closet, from the rod to the floor. I'm not worried about the side with the safe in it, I'm concerned about the full length side. If you could "guess-ta-mate" for me, I'd be very grateful.
THANKS!

The Cove Cafe does have internet terminals. I believe there are about four of them at that location and you can use your internet package there as well.

I posted a couple of times from the Cove Cafe during the May 1st cruise and the PCs were never busy at all.

Truer words have never been spoken Lloyd :)

Cheers,

Those darn cruise staff hosts.......who would have thought they would have the nerve to announce things......only kidding!!! LOL I agree it can get noisy in there but like others have said...try the Cove Cafe or go on off hours.

you need to get to the Cove Cafe on Deck 9!! LOL! Say hi to Ishmael for me!! :) For business reasons I needed to check on my emails once a day. by the third day he knew my name and what I wanted to drink (decaf capuccino at night, mocha frapaccino in the day!) Loved it there...quietest spot on the entire ship.

P.S. you don't have to order anything to be able to use the computers at the Cove Cafe, but I did...it just made "work" seem less like work! :)

Frankly, I'm looking forward to my upcoming cruise so I can get away from my computer. I don't check e-mail or voice mail on vacation and the laptop stays at home.

For some of us, the laptop/internet is a way to stay in touch with special friends or family who weren't able to be there on the cruise. I don't vacation to run away from my world or the people in it (including work), and I enjoy having the laptop to keep in touch with those I don't want to not have any contact with for a week.

I don't see any difference in relaxing by surfing the web and relaxing by sitting and reading a book.
A cruise is for doing what you enjoy, and for some people that may be sitting at the computer.

I too keep on the net to keep in touch with family and friends, but, no, I do not let it run my vacation either. As I am right now at OKW posting this in some downtime.

Actually, I have found it quite pleasant to be at the Promenade Lounge location in the evenings when the entertainers are onstage. I even miss it being open to the lounge as the waitstaff would serve there if asked.

I would honestly say there are other issues here if you can't focus with whatever is going on there.

Sorry but I find both of those "interruptions" appealing.....have a great cruise!!!!!!!!!!

The only time I would go there was in the evenings when they had a singer or performer in the Promenade lounge. I love being able to sit down and relax on the computer with entertainment right there!

tchrmom, the closet is standard height from rail to floor on the "open" side. There's a little ledge about 3 inches from the main cabin floor, and the rail itself is about 5 feet off the ground, maybe 5'6". Standard dresses hanging won't touch the floor, but my formal floor length dress did a little bit.

Since we "went down" to a cat. 11 this time, to off set the cost...I know there is less storage space. So, I wanted to bring a hanging closet shelf! It is 50 inches long, and I wondered if it would fit.

THANKS again!
Fran
