I need new transportation, I want a new car....

I need to save more, I want to spend more!

I need to save more, I want to spend more!
Isn't that the truth, especially with the holidays coming up (why did I just read a Christmas romance novel - I'm in the holiday spirit!). :santa:

As I think about what I "need", I honestly can't think of anything. Everything really falls in the "wants" column.

I need to pay off the DVC contracts we already have. I WANT more points at BLT. :rolleyes1

How refreshing! So often I read how people 'need' a vacation/WDW trip etc. Reality is that we can get by with very little; millions of people in the world survive with almost nothing. I really don't 'need' much, although as so many do, I 'want' comforts.

I have been on a quest to rid my life of 'crap' and am ashamed every time I see how much I have accumulated. No matter how much I donate and give away, I seem to have too much stuff.

My goal is to do a lot of shopping in the back of the closet over the next year or so.

I 'wanted' a puppy and we are picking a Beagle puppy from the no-kill shelter on Thursday (he has to wait until then because their vet won't be there until Wed. night to do vaccinations and neutering), so now I 'need' a crate, collar, puppy food, and leash. I 'want' chew toys, a food bowl for him, and a book about how to train him.

ETA: I posted an ad on our local Freecyle board asking if anyone had puppy supplies. Someone offered me a collapsible crate that they only used for 6 months and didn't use anymore! It fit perfectly underneath our breakfast bar and is in really good shape. Now I can use that $45 to buy something else instead of a crate :-)

Need flu shot

Want Go-lion DVDS

I will be getting the flu shot as soon possible.

I want to save. .save. .save so that I can have the money in the account to buy what I want to own or do what I want to do. (Like Disney Trips)

But I end up needing to spend. . spend. . spend. My PTCruiser threw a timing belt and broke the engine. So now I need to spend the money to fix it or pay it off and sell it as scrap.

I need to sell my house in New York as I currently live in southern IL and want to move to KY where my husbands job is to cut down on his commute.

I need new tires, too!! and yes they are expensive.

I want to go to Disney every year.

Most of mine are wants too, don't really need to much except tires.

At the moment, I honestly don't "need" anything. I know this in my heart but my impulsive nature sometimes has a hard time with this. I have more than enough and will be donating/giving away lots in the next few weeks as I try to rid myself of so much excess stuff that I don't need.

My "want" list is rather long, though. I'm trying so hard to be not so impulsive. Doesn't always work though.

I need to pay off my family's medical bills (baby ER visit & 2 girl's cavity fillings.)
I need to get a new roof.

I want to go on a cruise with my dh.
I want to redecorate my girl's rooms.

You dont want to sell as scrap, scrap is down right now.....but you could sell it for parts or as a good body, needs motor.

anyways.....
I need to keep my car roadworthy
I need to pay for insurance
I need to pay my taxes before the years end.
I need a new roof
I need food to eat
I need water, electric, phone, internet (since hubby makes his living online)
I need clothes on my back

mostly everything else is a want

I want a new tattoo (BUT I just won a $100 gift cert. in a raffle to a great tattoo studio so that will take care of a large chunk of that want)

I just went to the big Hershey Fall car swap meet and boy did I see a lot of wants!

DH and I take the time occasionally to examine our needs/wants. It is just part of the budgeting.

We've cut out newspaper subscriptions, netflix, weekly dinners out, ect.. because, we realized, we don't *need* these things.

We need the house, two reliable cars (we live a ways from town, so if one person was away, and there was an emergency.. we need that second car), electricity, propane, food, land line (this one is debatable, as I don't feel our cell phone reception is very good, DH disagrees).

We do still have cell phones, but prepaid ones. It only costs $5 a month, and the piece of mind, for when we're traveling is grand.

Our two most frivolous wants are internet and directv. We've tried giving them up, but, always go back and get them again.

Me too, it will take us 2 more years to pay off our first DVC contract, but I wish we could afford a few more points. We bought in Feb and got pg on that trip (we had been trying forever and had given up!), so didn't buy enough points for a larger family. But that's OK, that's a good problem to have, right?

Otherwise, I feel good. When I stopped working to be a sahm, I learned to give up a lot and I find I don't miss it. The less you learn to live with, the less you find to want.

I need to put more insulation in our attic.

I want my own private island someplace warm, with my own hammock, wild horses that run down that beach, charming birds that entertain me, and pretty cabana boys that bring rum drinks and good books.
If that is too greedy I'll settle for the rum drink and the hammock.

Need: A new vacuum mine just died and with a dog I need one.

Want: I would like some new cordless phones, ours died about 2 months ago and having one corded phone is very hard, but I can do with it for now.

This country needs a crash course on this subject! A girl in my office is complaining how she can't afford to get her kids their shots and will have to go to the free clinic. This was in the same breath that she was saying how she just bought the new Iphone that she "needed" since her old cell phone was outdated!
