Just wondering if anyone has done the parent/child classes. I have a two year old and I believe the classes run for 5 months. I went to their website but it doesnt; have the cost of classes....We also have a mygym in town and I'm trying to figure out which one is better/lower cost etc etc. If anyone has info I would love to hear it!! :)

I don't know about the cost for those, but have you looked at Gymboree? They work on motor and social skills, as well as fine motor and cognative/verbal skills. We have been to their classes and find them to be amazing with great make-up policies. That doesn't help, but it is another option.

I just enrolled 2 of my kids, DD4 & DS 2 1/2 in summer camp at the Little Gym -- they love it! I picked up the Fall Brochure this AM b/c I'm thinking of doing a parent/child class for my DS 15 months old in the Fall. It looks like they run by semister (Fall is from Aug - Jan, 20 weeks) and it's $320 plus a $30 Annual Family Membership. This is for the local one here in PA -- I'm not sure if their prices are the same at all locations. Hope this helps!
BTW I recently moved from FFLD County CT!

We love My Gym!!! The Free Plays definately make it a better value.

Good Luck!

Thanks, I am waiting for both the little gym and my gym to get back to me on prices. I am in Fairfield :wave2:

I took my dd to My Gym when she was 2 and she loved it!! They have free play a couple of times a week where you can go in with your child and just play....no instruction. I think we paid about $140 for 8 weeks (1 day per week, plus free play).

:wave2: what a small world -- I lived in Fairfield all my life until we moved out here last year! I still miss it but I get to go back quite often to visit family. Good luck with you decision about the gyms!

I worked at a Little Gym while in college and ran their "On Wheels" program before going back to school to get my Master's degree. All Little Gyms are franchises, so they do have rules to follow and the same philosophy, but prices and offerings will be different everywhere. It has been over 10 years since I worked there- man I'm getting old- but it was great, especially the parent-toddler classes. I have not taken my kids there because of the cost. We have a wonderful YMCA in our area and I use that because they have lots of different options and great parent-toddler gym as well.

Do you mean you get additional time per week???
Here, at My Gym, we get our class time, plus 2 free plays per week. These are on the schedule just like a class, but you don't sign up or anything. You just show up and let your little one play. Great way to burn off that extra energy.

I also liked that I only had to commit to 9 weeks or less per time. In addition, their membership fee is forever where many places you must pay annually.

HTH!

We've done Gymboree (18 mos.), Little Gym (age 2-3) and a competitive gym (age 3-4). I have to say that Little Gym was my absolute favorite. We started out in the parent/child class when DD was 2, but she kept ditching me and doing stuff on her own so they bumped her up to a solo class (I think they were called Funny Bugs). We don't have a My Gym in the area so I can't comment on a comparison there, but what I really liked about Little Gym is that the kids actually use scaled-down versions of real gym equipment. Gymboree didn't use these, and the gym where she is now puts the kids on the bigger equipment. I think that getting up on a balance beam and flipping around on parallel bars helped alleviate any future apprehensions about gym equipment. The teachers also made the classes fun, parents were more than welcome to watch the classes, and they did these cute little gym routines at the end of the semester and got medals. I actually like TLG better than the competitive program DD is in now, but I had scheduling conflicts with TLG. Ours is fairly new so there aren't as many classes per level.

ETA: Cost-wise, they are all about the same here, about $200/semester. I know Gymboree and TLG have trial classes and open enrollment throughout. I would just take your DD to trial classes at all of them and see which you like the best.

We love love love the Little Gym! Good times had by all. Of course we love our local owner, so that could have alot to do with it, too.
