I have to have a needle biopsy done on Monday. The dr assures me that it is just due to new calification that was not on last mamo and everything will be fine. Which I am sure it wil be? Anyone have one done? I need to be able to go to my niece's graduation that night. Will there be any pain etc?

I had one done in 1984 - in the office.. No pain at all..:thumbsup2

I had the actual lump removed a week later and there wasn't even much pain involved with that - just kind of an "ache"..

You'll be fine..:goodvibes Good luck..

I had one done several years ago. I did experience some pain. But I took an over the counter pain killer and put ice on it afterwards.

You should be fine for the graduation.

I have had two. After the first one, I experienced some pain. She had taken 5 or 6 samples. I used an ice pack and took motrin. I was very tender but think I would have been ok going out that evening as long as I didn't move around too much - watch out for huggers that squeeze too much:hug: Later I found out that they "missed" the spot :headache: so I had to have a 2nd needle biopsy - there was less discomfort that time (with a different doctor) and I was back to normal faster.

Good luck!

I just had it done also, no pain at all. Don't worry:)

Piece of cake, nothing to it. Had no discomfort during or after the procedure.

My cousin just had this done last week. Her's turned out to be cancerous but it was such a small spot when they went back in to do a lumpectomy on Tuesday they couldn't find anything left-got it all with the biopsy. Good news is no lymph involvement so she just has to do radiation. Just a reminder for everyone to get their mammograms done on a regular basis--her's was so small there was no lump-only found it because it was a spot that wasn't on her last one!

I had one last year and went back to work afterwards. I did take a tylenol, but it wasn't any big deal.

Good Luck!

I had one earlier this year for the same reason. Remember, 85 - 90 % of those calcifications are NOT cancerous, (as mine was) so the odds are on your side.

I was "sore" for a day or two. No strenuous activities, including lifting and running for about a week. Also, take Tylenol and not ibuprofen for pain, since ibuprofen can cause bleeding.

I had to have one done years ago when I was pregnant with DD9. It didn't hurt; they numbed the area pretty well. I was just bit sore after for a day or so. I was able to go out a Christmas show at Dd's school that same night without problems.

You will be sore but not in pain, at least that was my experience. Kind of like the next day from exercising too much.

I wish I had something to do that night. It would have helped to pass the time and not think so much. KWIM

Thinking of you!
