Needing reservations with two roooms

Looking to book a September trip for a group of 5. We want to book two rooms. So far when I go through the reservation process on the website, I am only able to book one room as part of the package. Do I have to split up the group and book two separate packages to be able to book two rooms?

You can book two rooms under one reservation number by calling Disney reservations. You aren't able to do it yourself on the website.

I just booked two Room Only rooms online. Perhaps its different when reserving a package. But if you do book separate reservations online, Its very easy to request connecting or adjacent rooms.

Requests are only requests and not guaranteed. They try to do their best but no CM can every promise or guarantee.
Making that your only request is the best thing remember connecting are joined by an interior door and adjacent are near each other.

Just make sure you request what type of rooms you want (knowing that it is only a request) because connecting and adjoining/adjacent rooms are two very different things in hotel speak.

Connecting = a door that literally connects the rooms.

Adjoining/Adjacent = rooms next to, across the hall, diagonally, or even around the corner from each other but NO door that connects them.

You may not think it matters, but it does. And not all agents will ask for clarification if you request "adjoining". When I worked in a hotel reservations department (not Disney, but the terminology is universal), I always made a point to clarify and if the person insisted that adjoining was fine, I made a note of it in their file that they were specifically asked if they were requesting a door between the rooms and they had said no in case they got there and tried to say they requested a door between the rooms. Obviously if possible the desk would try to make the change if the person was irate, but my butt was covered. I also always noted that the guest had been told requests were only requests and could not be guaranteed.

I have a different number I can call at Disney . I made a request for a trip in January. That CM clearly stated on both reservations I requested on they were only requests and not guaranteed.

Yep. I always documented it because invariably someone who didn't get their requests would claim they were not told that it was just a request. (Not saying you would do that, but some people do.)

In my job I need to document also letting oriole know it’s just a request too.

For what its worth, every time we have requested adjoining rooms, it has never been done. The CM will apologize, and say simply, they are no adjoining rooms available, sorry. Its weird because most people say they have no trouble getting adjoining rooms.

I think in my case, the only time I need adjoining rooms is when adding a day or 2 to my trip, and the original villa is not available for extra days. So I understand. Though sometimes they have actually placed us in different buildings! now that my kids are older, it doesnt matter much to me, but when they were toddlers, it was kinda stressful

Again, please remember that if you are wanting a door in between the rooms, you need to request CONNECTING rooms. They are not interchangeable terms in hotel-speak.

Obviously that doesn't help if there are not any connecting rooms available, but it makes clear to the assigners what your request is. if you are requesting "adjoining" you could be placed across the hall, diagonally, around the corner, or next door but without a connecting door and you would have been granted your request.

If you are talking about DVC villas, the only studios that connect are at the Polynesian. At all the rest, one bedrooms connect to studios to make lockoff two bedrooms. Dedicated two bedroom villas are always two bedroom villas. Again, adjoining doesn't mean connecting. It means close to the original room. And if you have children under the age of 18 and you get two non-connecting rooms, the adults will need to split up with at least one in each room. You cannot put children (under the age of 18) in a room without an adult (18 or older).
