Needing just 3 points to complete a stay???

I thought I read somewhere that if you are short by a few points you can purchase them with cash for the stay. Does anyone know about this???

Yes if you are a few points short of a stay (such as 3) you can "rent" them from DVC for, I believe, $15 per point.

May be cheaper to see if you can purcahse a point transfer from another member on the rent/trade board.

Though if it's 3 points $45 isn't so bad.
If you need 10, $90-$100 is better than $150.

According to the disney member website:
new solution for Members who find themselves in need of additional vacation points to book a reservation.

This new option, designed as an alternative to borrowing from next year's allotment, allows Members the option of paying for a one-time assignment of as many as 24 vacation points from Disney Vacation Development, Inc., for $15 a vacation point ($13.33 plus $1.67 tax) to complete their reservation. (A receipt is available upon request.)

Members may use these vacation points to book Disney Vacation Club Resorts, Disney Collection Resorts, Disney Cruise Line® voyages, Adventures by Disney experiences and World Passport Collection resorts.

Note that this option is available once each use year, and the transferred vacation points are assigned only for the specific use year and therefore expire when used.

We did this for our upcoming trip in August and it was very simple. JUst tell your DVC cast member on the phone that you are short a few points and would like to purchase the difference. Very easy and no problem!

BUT, they are only good at 7 or fewer months out. You can't get points to match your home resort for a reservation at 11 months out.

Which, IMHO is fair to those who own enough points to book.
