Needed: Advice from experienced Graco Duo Glider Owners

I hadn't considered the Pliko P3 before. That would be less then the double stroller. Something tells me I still won't be able to get my car seat on it.

You can definitely get most infant carseat on the Pliko P3. Peg Perego only officially endorses it with their carseat, but I've heard of people using it with the Graco Snugride and I use it with my Britax Companion. However, the seat needs to be reclined all the way, so it is near impossible for anyone to ride on the back. I rarely actually put the infant seat in the stroller and I certainly wouldn't use the infant seat all day at WDW. Most doctors strongly discourage extended use in the infant seat. So, I'll leave my son in it if he is sleeping when we go out to dinner or for short errands. Anything extended (like a day at WDW), I'lll bring just the stroller and my Bjorn (for lines).

We're going on a cruise in two weeks with a 4 year old and 8 month old. Originally I was going to bring my double (Inglesina Twin Jet which will also take my infant seat), but because the cruise ship has limited space and because singles are so much narrower, I decided to bring the P3. At the airport, I'll have the infant seat in it, but for WDW and for excursions off the ship, we'll leave the infant seat behind. This way, for the longer day trips, my daughter can stand behind on the stroller. Worst case scenerio, we'll rent a second single stroller at WDW for the day.

I feel the same way, for the airport we will have the car seat with us, but not around the parks. (not with a 7 month old since they can sit up on their own at that age.) I think the baby would get too hot in the car seat around the parks. I was thinking more about for now and around town with the car seat, wanting one stroller for both purposes. Someone did say that in the long run I will more likely get more use out of the SBS pergo in the long run.

Also doing 2 strollers for WDW isn't out of the picture, and we have 2 good ones (tried and true) already.

I was all seat to get the tandom evenflo (front back), then I started to think about it (how heavy it is, the lacth problem, the size) and I am now leaning more towards the peg SBS. All the advice is really giving me new things to think about. At least I don't spend the $300 on a stroller with out thinking about it 1st!

I was shopping online to find the best deal on a new Pliko P3 for my Dd and I found a 2004 Pliko P3 Classico in Metallica (Red and Silver) for $249.99 with free shipping and no sales tax at www.babydealz.com. They also have several other 2004 P3's for $229.00 and $239.00 but different color fabrics. I just love the red since it is nice and bright.

I hope my Dd will love this stroller for our long trips and for WDW so she can take a nap. We do have the Maclaren Volo for the short trips and she does great in it too. I just needed something that could recline since she just turned 2 last week and she still takes a 2 hour nap in the afternoon!

I have many friends that have this stroller and the love, love, love it!!! Also noticed many great comments from this board on the P3, so we will give it a try!!! We did have a larger jogging type stroller that we took last year, but with the 3 big wheels it was a pain to get on and off the buses and trams and took up a lot of space in the trunk of our rented mini van.

I would like to gate check this stroller, and I was thinking about buying the travel bag to store it in. Has anyone else used this? Do you think it is necessary?

Thank you in advance for any advice!!!:wave2:

After looking for a double stroller for my two sons (3.5 months and 2) we ended up with the Maclaren Twin Traveller. We love it. It is lighter than the duoglider, fits through regular doors and aisles with no problem, compact and my kids are both comfortable in it. It was a great investment. We have attachments for cups, there is storage under each seat and it comes with a great raincover. Good luck in your search.

My DD LOVES this stroller! I did purchase the travel bag because when I posted a thread asking for reviews of the Pliko someone said that their canopy was torn in 3 places after gate checking their Pliko. You could always just take the canopy off and bring it on board with you but I bought the bag-it will keep the whole stroller nice and clean. I paid 29.99 with free shipping from thebabyoutlet.com.

lovesdumbo,

Thanks for the info on the travel bag. I think I am going to purchase one too. I figured if I pay that amount of money for a stroller I don't want it to get damaged or dirty either! We probably could use the same bag to fit our Maclaren Volo if we ever decided to gate check that stroller on another trip. My Dh thinks I have a stroller addiction. We have had 7 strollers so far, and this will be our 8th!!! We had several Combi's and even though they were lightweight, they were so narrow and my DD didn't look comfy in the them. My son was a much smaller baby and very short so he did fine in the Combi's. The only other big stroller we have is the Jeep Liberty with the big 3 wheels like a jogging stroller which we love, but it is too big to travel with. So hopefully we are done buying strollers since we are thrilled with our Volo and hoping to be thrilled with the Pliko P3!!! My DD just turned 2 last week and is about 28 pounds and 37 inches tall, so I'm hoping this P3 will be roomy enough for her and her long, long legs!!! I'll let you know how we like it. It should be arriving on Friday from Babydealz.com, and wow, what a great price we got on a 2004 in the bright red!!! I know they retail out here for $269.99 plus tax, so I got mine for $249.99 with free shipping and no tax!!! I just hate to buy a stroller on line without ever seeing it or trying it out, but I have heard nothing but wonderful comments about this stroller!!! Can't wait to try it out!!!:wave2:

We have three kids and a planned trip to WDW the first week in December too. I wouldn't go without my duoglider. I have a side by side jogger.... way to cumbersome for trams and trains. My children are 4 months, 21 months, and 5. I've actually plucked all 3 kids in the duo at the mall and wizzed to the car. My oldest is the same as yours... no big deal. The stroller can on occassion be hard to fold. If I take my time I get it right. We're going to get an umbrella for the oldest just to have one. Walmart has them for about $10.00. Doesn't matter if it only makes it for the week at that price. I've travelled on subways, airplanes, etc. with duoglider and it was never a problem. Have a great vacation.
P.S. I'm about 5'9" and of medium build. THe duoglider has never been difficult to maneuver for me except when I'm holding the infant and it's full with the other children.... one handed can be a challenge. It might be a different story for someone who is slight of stature or just generally petite.:earsboy: :earsgirl: princess: princess:

I wouldn't recommend a duo glider- too bulky, too heavy, too hard to push with the weight of two kids in it. I have a hard enough time at the mall. If your youngest doesn't need the stroller for sleeping during the day, I would rent a double at the parks. My kids liked them just fine. Then, you don't have to carry your own on the transportation system.

I have a side by side stroller that I love. It is not hard to steer and even if only 1 child is in it it is still easy to push. It folds up flat and I can pick it up with one hand from my trunk while holding my daughter (8months). It is a Graco. It was inexpensive ($125) and I use it all the time. My son is 40lbs (2yo) and my daughter is 21lbs and I have been using it since she was a baby. The seats recline and there is a padded bar in front of the kids. No tray but I never use the trays anyway. It is slim enough to fit in any doorway. It is just as easy to manuever as my single strollers. I hope this helps! Good Luck!

We went to WDW last year with our 2 and 4yr old kids and we brought 2 umbrella strollers. I have the duo graco at home and it is to heavy. I also think that it will be to awkward when you need to open it in a hurry. Most on the time on the monrail we had to close the strollers because there was no room. What I suggest is to bring two single umbrella strollers and get a clip that keeps them together so you can have the best of both world. We brought our strollers right to the gate at the airport with us and the checked them with the wheel chairs. When we got off the plane they were waiting for us. Have a great trip!

I suggest the two umbrellas with the clip also. You can buy the clips that attach two seperate strollers at Babies r us. I used them at disney last year with a regular stroller and an umbrella for my 1 and 4 year old. I will do the same this year. My umbrella stroller could also be stuck(jammed) into the basket of the regular stroller when my older child wanted to walk. Then I still had the large basket and cupholders and a reclining seat for the little guy. Your mom and you can therefore handle any option that comes along.
