a book about Disney Collectibles. My family's company is doing a Disney Price Guide. It is being distributed by Random House. We currently publish many comic and other collectible item related price guides and such. We also publish the Disney comics in the US for the last 2 years.I am being asked to work on a section featuring Disney pins. My son has collected for fun for years, and we have tons of pins, some actually very desirable. However, I would like to include in the section (this will just be a small sampling of the different pin styles, etc.... as their are far too many pins out there to include them all in this first time publication. This will just be a drop in the bucket, really) pins that are highly sought after, or ones that are considered to be really great looking pins, regardless of how "tradeable" they are. For the most part I am trying to have examples of the different characters, series, or special pins from events or holidays, and from the different theme parks. Keep in mind I am not doing just the super "valuable" pins. However, I would like to have some ideas from the collectors out there, what pins you think are either really special or very highly sought after (the Holy Grail stuff) and should be included in a section about Pin Trading. In addition to your input, I am in need of digital photos of the pins. If you send me a list of pins with digital photos, which we can use in the book, you will be given a photo credit in the book. You can PM me with the information and I assure you the best digital photos (as I may get multiples of some pins) will be chosen and I will contact the person who sent them to get information for the photo credit.
I appreciate any insight or help you can give me in this matter. I was starting to bang my head at work wondering how I could get the info I needed when I remembered all the great people at the DIS. I hope you don't mind me picking your brains a little.
Thanks in advance!

I can't say right now which specific pins I would recommend. Give me a little time and I'll have a few suggestions.

If it were me, I would show how pin trading and collecting evolved, starting with pins from before Disney started pin trading in 1999. I would also include the Artist Choice pins (especially the ones from the AC weekends in 2000), the mystery pins such as Wet Paint and Flubber, holiday pins, pins from different parks, pins from the Disneyana conventions, etc.

Oh, and interview Scoop. :)

Thanks for the reponses thus far. Really appreciate it. Keep them coming.
I would love to interview Scoop, how do I go about it?

I got info from Disney's official pin trading regarding the start. What would you have in mind to include prior to 1999? Thanks in advance.
