Need your help! Akershus or Chef Mickey for our granddaughters first visit?

On my DD13's first trip (she was 5), she liked Chef Mickey's, but she LOVED Akershus! CM was a chaotic mess and I personally will never go there again (unless I'm taking my baby nephew some day). Akershus we have gone to a couple of times since then. I personally like the food at Akershus and the ambiance is much nicer.

I can still remember the look on my DD's face when Cinderella came up to our table. She was just thrilled and the happiest little girl in the world! Pluto tried to eat her head, and that was funny, but nothing like a little girl seeing a real princess!

Akershus for breakfast. Lots of princess interaction. Plus it's a mix of family style and buffet, which means you basic meal is brought to the table which is easier. If she wants Mickey instead of princesses think about Garden Grill in Epcot. This is Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale. It is family service with lots of character face time.

I would say Akershus as well. I have 2 girls and they liked it way better than Chef Mickey's. Really none of us liked Chef Mickey's. The food wasn't that good and definitely not worth the price. If you're going to be at Epcot it's easier to fit in a reservation there then having to leave a park and get to Chef Mickey's (unless you are staying at that resort). Just something else to consider.

My husband and I are taking our 3 granddaughters, ages 9,7, and 5 to Disney in February. It will be their first visit and we would like to surprise them with a character meal. We were thinking either Akershus Royal Palace or Chef Mickey. I wish we could swing both, but it isn't in the budget. I would appreciate some insight on this with those that have young girls and what they enjoyed more. Also which meal would you suggest? Thanks!
Character Meals are not about food.

Chef Mickey's is the only place to see the Fab-5 together. Highlight likely to be excursion on Monorail (assuming you are not staying at Monorail Loop resort).

Akershus is Princesses. Akershus will likely be the highlight of Epcot for girls that age.

My two-cents: young girls want Princesses (my daughter is 7).
